Hi I quit, I just answered you question in The Neeks thread. Maybe that will help. You hang in there, okay? You're right at that danger point where you get tired of fighting, apathy sets in and the junky thoughts just love whispering in your ear!. I lost my first quit in january last year at this point. When (not if) you get through this hump, it should let up for a while. At least it did for me. Just go back to the "one step at a time" philosphy for a little bit. And DO NOT forget to reward yourself. Start planning now for a fantastic 3 week reward! :) We CAN do this! Hi I Quit, As Newbkr says, it depends how you are using Nicorette and so on. If you are using NRT intermittently, you will have stronger craves in the long run. NRT is meant to be used in a controlled manner, and in a steadily decreasing way, so that you are weaned slowly off the Nicotine. The gum used to give me terrible mouth ulcers and made me feel rotten. I found this time that NICOTINELL gum, with a peppermint taste is much better, but as you are in the US I do not know if you can get this. Anyway, I found the gum to be too strong in one piece and started cutting it into smaller pieces and taking it a little more often. This stopped my mouth ulcers, reduced the huge cravings and allowed me to be more in control when it came to cutting down. It's a question of doing what you can with what is available. BTW, my gums bled too....I looked like Dracula's daughter!!!...it's the increrased oxygen reaching the small blood vessels in your gums. It will stop soon, and your whole mouth, teeth and gums, will be a lot healthier. Hang on in there my friend......I promise you it does get so much better. We all had Hell at the start, but, looking back it was soooo worth it!!! Please do keep coming here when you are having a bad time....this is the best place to be! I nearly lived here for the first few weeks! ((((((HUGS))))) to you. Stay Strong! Lolly. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/25/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 413 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 14,477 Amount Saved: 2065 Life Gained: Days: 57 Hrs: 13 Mins: 16 Seconds: 17
