Cuddles, Many people who quit will admit that the reason they never quit before was because of a fear of failure. Why go through withdrawal if it may not work, they wondered? They did not know about the Journey to our Online Quit Program or the wonderful support they could get here. When some people prepare to quit, they consciously try to cut down. One such person wrote to me that in order to be able to do that, she kept her cigarettes outside. For her, smoking had been automatic, and all other attempts to cut down had failed. She wanted to start developing coping methods before the big day came. Another person wrote that he put away his pack, only taking out a certain amount for the morning. He did the same for the afternoon and the same for the evening. This allowed him to discover the time of day when his strongest urges hit. Then he would work on dealing with that time of day. Cutting out a few favorites each day is another way to cut down, such as the ones on the ride home from work, or the first one in the morning. There are other ways of cutting down, and I hope the members will share how they did it. Take Care, Melanie ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Cuddels, I know not smoking isn't easy. Yesterday I wanted a cigarette so bad I could taste it. I started thinking about everything that was going wronge in my life. And boy! that really got me depressed. Also, I started telling myself that I had tooooo much stress in my life to even think about not smoking. In reality, rather I smoke or not the situations will still be in my life, that I don't particular like at the present time. I just had to stop focusing on the negative and think about the positive things in my life. By no means am I a positive Pete. Yesterday was the day from hell for me. I was depressed, I also cried. But I made it through all of the triggers of yesterday. Just for right now I am still cigarette free. If you haven't smoked hang in there, breathe in and out. And if you have smoked don't beat up on yourself. There is always tomorrow. This isn't my first attempt at not smoking. I quit one time for 3 months. And one night I was cleaning up, and I found a cigarette butt. I lit it and was right back to smoking full force. So I'm attempting again. I will just try and stay smoke free one day at a time. I do know for sure, if it wasn't for me being able to post on this sight I would be back to smoking by now. The people at this site is so very supportive and understanding, use them, use us, we are all in this together. I feel your pain Cuddles. Please do not isolate, post even if you feel you aren't on track. Hang in there, and you are ok, and you are not alone. :) Bobby My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/31/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 230 Amount Saved: $73.45 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 18 Mins: 26 Seconds: 19

Hey cuddles... and other ash kickin jokers..I think quiting after relapse is harder than your first attempt. I know... this is my 3rd time around... My slips lasted 3years and the second lasted 9 months... I felt like a huge failure and disappeared into my own self pity. I am so impressed with your ability to regroup so quickly. We are all here for you. My suggestion...Don't skip those important planning step really start your quit over from the very beginning... Remember, your quit was not a failure... your slip was... LEARN FROM IT!!! I'm here for you any time!!Keith :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/15/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,198 Amount Saved: $318.5 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 13 Mins: 44 Seconds: 42

Thanks for all of your support. Like I have said before SSC and all the people on this sight are wonderful. Yes I slipped but I guess we are human and it is in are nature. I know I have the will power to quit. I quit for 90 days, but then I let my guard down and got slamed. Now it is time to fight back. Yes Minties I remeber you and I would love to be quit buddys. I want to continue to be an ash kickin joker. I am still kind of mad at myself but I can live with it,, hopefully it will help me to be stronger on my second time around. Ash Kickin Joker
