I really want to quit

Cuddles- a personal story. I was TOLD to quit (this is a two-pack a day person) by my doctor. Told me if I didn't quit, I would probably have a stroke. So....came home, scared to death, and cut WAY down... I had three cigarettes. I was SO proud of myself!!! Next day, the doc called with some test results. She asked me if I had quit, and I said, " I only had THREE cigarettes yesterday!!" I was really happy to tell her that. She said, "WHAT!!??? I thought I told you to QUIT SMOKING!!!" I was devastated. Now I know that she was right. I was either going to smoke, or not smoke. Now, some distance away from that experience, I realize that it was much harder to decide when I was going to smoke those two or three cigarettes (total torture) that it was to just NOT SMOKE AT ALL!!! DUH!!! Hang in there, Cuddles. This is going to sound a bit strange, but don't obsess about it. There is so much more to all of our lives than nicotene. We have to get on with it, for Pete's sake! (talking to myself here, too) Smoking cigarettes was not our whole lives, and certainly WILL NOT have control over us any longer. I just got back from a meeting that started at noon, followed by a subcommittee meeting. Walked out of the building at 3 p.m. I would NEVER have been able to do that before. Granted, I had one piece of gum, so I still have to beat the Nicorette. But for now, I am doing well. I have a sign on my bathroom mirror from Mary Englebreit what says "Well! Ain't YOU somethin'!! I love it. It reminds me of what I have accomplished. xx SILVER My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 122 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,681 Amount Saved: $793 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 1 Mins: 47 Seconds: 27

Cuddles....we are here with you. You are not alone. NO SMOKING ALLOWED today! You really want to quit....we really want to help you. Hey....I thought of you on my way to work today..here's an idea for you. How about you keep a quit journal and log in it how horrible you are feeling now and then when you think about smoking, go back and read the journal first. I bet it would make you think twice. Just wanted to share that with you. Gotta get busy now. Have a great day! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 201 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,026 Amount Saved: $703.5 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 17 Mins: 49 Seconds: 38

Cuddles....you know what to do. Regroup. List your reasons for quitting and get all your coping techniques in order. We all know you really want to succeed and the only one doubting whether you can or not is you. You are not depriving yourself of smoking. You are choosing not to smoke. It is a Choice. You say you really want to quit. OK then, quit! Your desire to quit must outweigh your desire to smoke in order to be successful. Dig down deep here. You KNOW you can do this. You did it before and you can do it again. Stop playing mental games with yourself. Yes, quitting is hard and it sucks, but it is doable. You were almost to the beach. That is a long quit. Sopull yourself together, grab my hand and climb back up on this quitting wagon. You are not alone. We are all right here for you but we cant quit for you. You have to do the work. :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 199 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,988 Amount Saved: $696.5 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 13 Mins: 44 Seconds: 20
