Party for Janet. Congrats and well done. Remember to be carefull and never let your guard down. I have read on several occasions in here that alcohol can get ya pretty quick. I fortunately don't have to overcome that problem as I did that already almost 14 years ago. Get over to our other Ash Kicker post and check in we need to hear from all the Ash Kickers.

Janet,
You and I are only a day apart in our quit (you are up by one) and I also had a night out last friday where I was around smokers. I was a little nervous even though I felt strongly that I would not smoke and you know what, I DIDN'T!!!
It felt sooooo great to get on this site and tell everyone that I didn't smoke! It also felt stronger about my quit and myself! It was an enormous challenge and I made it through with flying colors. It also helped that my friends knew I was quitting and supporting me 100%. Good Luck and I know you can do this!

Well done Janet!
Have a great evening...it sounds wonderful.
I have just got back from a trip to the pub. I am a parent governer for the local primary school and we have just had a meeting to discuss funbd raising.
Some of the other governers smoke and the pub has a designated smoking area some way from where we were sitting. When I got home I stank.....I still do sitting here. I gave my daughter a good night hug and had a quick chat with her. This involves sliding into bed with her whilst fully clothed (with feet hanging outside the bedclothes cos I couldn't be bothered to take my shoes off). I was in the bed for five mins max. She threw me out cos I smelled so bad and insisted on changing the pillowcase that I had laid my head on.
But the good news is that I had no desire to smoke, despite seveal pints of fine english ale!
Enjoy your evening and come back here tomorrow and tell us that you made it!

Janet,
Thanks for your response. And don't worry, I in no way think I am "out of the woods" yet. Just know that I passed a huge hurdle by being out with smokers and had no cravings. It was difficult to watch others smoke because I missed that, whatever it is, but I didn't even once think "oh I want a puff" or "give me JUST one"...never even entered my mind. I went into the evening with "N.O.P.E." in my brain and it never left. I know this is a daily struggle and I am always going to be aware of smookers but I now know that I don't ever want to become one of them again.
Thanks all for the concern but I feel that I am doing great and will continue that thinking.
N.O.P.E.

Hi there,
Tonight I am going to dinner and a blues music concert with my sister and niece (both closet smokers). They have both "reminded" me that they will want to smoke before we go and when the opportunity presents itself. We're meeting up at my house and I'm driving. hey know there will be no smoking in my car...just want to remind myself that I will not smoke tonight! I realize how easy it would be to go for the "just one" thinking but I KNOW that is junkie thinking and I'm fighting that with everything I've got.
I guess I'm just posting here to give myself that little extra kick in the seat so I can come back tomorrow and post that I made it through tonight smoke-free. I don't really even want a smoke...just know how easy it would be to have one with them around. Will be my first time having smokers up in my face, ya know? I've walked past smokers at the stores and outside my office but having them in my back yard (no smoking in my house!!) and then in the car (no smoking there either but will still smell them), will be a major test for me.
I'll be back tomorrow to post that I DID NOT SMOKE!!!
N.O.P.E.
