N2K, Thanks for posting this!!! The funny thing about this, is that I have just NATURALLY started doin this! And at work, I am thinking 'my God why am I drinking so much decaf, I never do this' LOL. Well I suppose my body is trying to tell me something. That's something I learned in a recent nutrition workshop I attended, that if you are craving some sort of food that does't seem to fit in your normal routine of eating, then that's your body's way of telling you there's something in the food that your body is saying 'yes that's what I need'. It actually has the ability to SENSE whether something will be good for you or not. Like, for example, did you ever notice how when you smoked and went to reach for one, you weren't smiling, in fact, you were kind of frowning or feeling like you really didn't want one? Have you ever cringed at the thought of 'having' to smoke one, even though you knew your body didn't want one? Has the thought ever crosed our minds when we smoked that our bodies were trying to tell us something back then? WOW. Thanks again for posting this N2K. You've given ALOT of 'food' for thought here!! Many Blessings, Eve Proud to be a C.A.R.E. Personally, I would really like to see more 'smackin the junkie' around here. LET'S ALL HAVE A SMACKIN' THE JUNKIE PARTY :p We can order a 'nicodemon' pinata and hand everyone a stick ;) Hitting the nicodemon pinata is not required. Door prizes will be handed out too (it will be a mini-nicodemon pincushion). :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 184 Amount Saved: $69 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 22 Mins: 26 Seconds: 43

Detox with Decaf? According to a recent addition of hubsters "Men's Health' magazine, ex-smokers should start drinking decaffeinated coffee. In a study of 993 former smokers, researchers at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, in Buffalo, New York, found that those who consumed at least 2 cups f decaf daily were 36 percent less likely to develop ling cancer than those who drank caffeinated black tea or coffee. Researchers aren't sure why drinking decaf helps limit the cancerous consequences of smoking but credit coffee beans' high level of flavonoids, which prevent the DNA damage that can cause tumors to take hold. "Caffeine has been shown to reduce flavonoids' beneficial effects," notes lead researcher Kirsten Moysich, Ph.D. Spice up your life Also I recently read in "Good Housekeeping" CUMIN aids digestion and may also have anticancer properties Never too late but don't wait If you quit smoking before age 50, you reduce your risk of dying in the next 15 years by half, as compared to those that keep puffing away. --- Something 2think about (or ignore) Take care of yourself. The FAF's never stay on topic Lady. ;p -- Quitting smoking is a life changing experience and so is graduating from college. I think the hardest has to be behind you now. You have paid your dues and it's time to start reaping the rewards. Certainly your quit journey is much easier these days and now that school is over you will have much more quality time to spend with the kids. (another positive besides 'better' job/pay opportunities.) Mc is right we need to plan a party. (with coffee ;) ) -- Mc, Many members think I am male.
