Bob, a sad but in some ways happy as well kind of day (if that makes sense). Sad that you are going, sad that you have another battle to fight (or not..............your choice as you point out), sad that you will no longer grace these pages with your thoughtful and thought-provoking posts. Happy that I knew you through these pages, happy that you made a difference to me and helped me to stop smoking, happy that I made you laugh once or twice and happy for the hundreds (or maybe thousands if we count the browsers)of people that you have touched with your knowledge and insight. I wish you well whatever you decide and whatever happens to you and will promise to sink the odd pint of Theakstons Old Peculiar in the Plough Inn in Farnsfield (named in the Doomsday Book as Ferny field). Good luck my friend.............Brent (Mad Englishman) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/8/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 160 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,124 Amount Saved: 800 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 18 Mins: 33 Seconds: 34

Duffis, I have not known you long, but long enough to know that you are a very wise man. You have great wisdom and insight of life. I am sure alot of it comes from your experiences with life. You will be greatly missed. May god watch over you and keep you safe. Thank you for all of your support and advice. Gosh Duffis. I am VERY SORRY to see you say 'goodbye'. You are wise, sentimental, creative, outspoken, humorous and unique. I will miss you very much. You often say things that strike a cord with me. Today you said this: Get a grip and just dont smoke, there is a lot more to life than dwelling on your thought process that says you are an addict when in reality you are just a smoker who is going to quit smoking. I've been thinking about that very thing for awhile. Addiction vs. personal responsibilty. Perhaps I'll write about it one day. Maybe (just maybe) you could 'pop N' to read once in a blue moon and IF you see someone like say.....'little 'ol me being raked over the coals for "thinkN outside of da box" U might (just might) feel compelled to post again? I hope so. Yes, you are a very smart man Bob~ but I suspect you are appreciated even more than you can comprehend. :) In times of trouble Friends will say, "Just ask... I'll help you through it." But you don't wait for me to ask, You just get up And you do it! And I can think Of nothing in life That I could more wisely do, Than know a friend, And be a friend, And love a friend... like you. Dear Bob, You will be so dearly missed but I understand. I certainly wish you the best with the tests that you will be undergoing. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you, but I know that you have such courage and determination that you can fight any battle you choose to. Words cannot express the impact you have made on us here at the SSC. I am one of so many that are so thankful to have quit while you were here on this site, for you gave tremendous advice, hope, encouragement, and a few necessary kicks along the way. For all of that, I say thank you, knowing that thank you is just not enough. You certainly have left a legacy here. From all of the club threads to all of the inspirational posts that will live on forever in the hearts and minds of every quitter who passes through this site, I say with 100% confidence that you shall never be forgotten. Take care my friend and God bless. Crave the Quit! Bob, aka duffis... I wish you all the best as you continue your journey through this wonderful life we live. When your physical time is up here on earth, I know your indomitable spirit will continue on in the vast unknown. I hope to some day "shake your hand", so to speak, in that unknown. Peace be with you Bob. You will be missed. Duffis, the SSC won't be the same without you. But you have left an indelible mark up on it and everyone here. The number of lives you have saved, or at least extended, cannot be counted. Mine is one of them. Thank you is inadequate, but it's all I have. On your continuing journey I wish you strength, courage, happiness, and contentment. You will be missed, sir. Thank you.
