Chantix Experience

for 18 år siden 0 318 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
ig2312 Yes it does work great. But in my opinion. You can't keep takeing the Chantix for ever. You have to want to remain smokefree. So must never take nicotine in any form. Including patches ect. Or you will be hooked again. Don't use the patch. It's not needed after the 3 day's. There is no nicotine in your system Why put it back. Makes no sence. Sorry about skipping the introduction step! I will do that soon here. Yes, I know that it is careless behavior on my part to smoke when I don't need to and I also know I won't get away with it once I have gone off the meds. Chantix is Rx only. It is a 12 or 24 week program, depending on your dependence. I think it got FDA approval in May, but when I asked my Dr for it, she didn't know what it was. We looked it up online and she wrote me a prescription. Sadly enough, I began this journey to stop smoking for someone else. Given that, in the back of my mind I didn't think I would succeed. On Chantix, you continue to smoke for a week while the medicine builds up. It also has an online support program that is optional. I did it in the beginning, and still periodically. Before a week was up, I had cut back by about 1/2 (a pack a day).I think it was the medicine, but it might also have been that they ask you to write down times and details of every smoke that first week, and it was a pain... made you really think about it. Anyway, day 8 arrived, and I quit. I was expecting the horrible cravings that made me a WITCH on my other attempts, but they never came. How many times had I wished for a pill that could make you not want to smoke?!!! This is it! So, like I said, nausea is a side effect as is insomnia (though mine only lasted 2 nights). I know if I could stay on the meds, no question, I would forever be smoke free. It is so easy. I can't say what will happen after I am done, but I hope by then I am strong enough. I honestly never thought I could quit. Smoking ruled my life, my activities, my relationships... Based on my past quit attempts, this drug is a miracle!

Hello all, new to the forum. I just felt compelled to give my 2 cents on Chantix. I was a heavy smoker for 27 years. Nothing worked. The patch slowed me down, but didn't stop me. I tried everything as quickly as I heard about it. I suspected Chantix would work about as well as Welbutrin (which didn't work at all for me) but I was determined to try. I followed program exactly. I have been on it for 5 weeks now and I quit smoking 1 month ago. It is amazing. It is just like I am indifferent to smoking. I have smoked several in this month, yet I am not sure why; not from cravings or even desire... maybe just to see if I was missing something. I wasn't! I have supplemented the Chantix with a low dose patch while in risky situations. No problem. I figured when I went out and there was drinking involved, that would be the big test. Luckily, that is one of the easier times! This drug is truly amazing. I just do not have the desire to smoke, and I have not yet gained weight! It works exactly like it claims. I am thrilled to be smoke free, and it has been so easy. There is the nausea that can last about 1/2 hour but it is a small price. I feel so much CLEANER at the end of the day! It is expensive, but luckily my insurance covers it. I would recommend it anyway, it is still cheaper than cigarettes! I am a little afraid of going off the Chantix. I know once I do, that one "try it just to see what I might be missing" will catapult me back to a smoker. I wonder if I will still be unphased by triggers, friends smoking, and the smell. Anyway, my thoughts. I highly recommend CHANTIX if you have tried everythng else like I have!! :)

Glad to hear it has been a rewarding experience. I have heard good things as well and have a good friend that has successfully quit with Chantix. I do, however, recommend, like Phil, not to 'experiment' any more with smoking and I would not recommend introducing your system to nicotine with a patch, since you have been without. Just my thoughts....Congratulations! I am truly happy for you! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,481 Amount Saved: $392 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 2 Mins: 31 Seconds: 10

I would like more information as I've never heard of the stuff and after one year plus, believe me when I tell you I've heard just about everything in reference to smoking here at the SSC. Is it a perscription or something herbal? Tell us more... Nope, Janet My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 461 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,230 Amount Saved: $2305 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 20 Mins: 47 Seconds: 52

Thanks for the information, lg. I've been wondering about Chantix since I first heard about it last summer. You're the first I've seen that has tried it. Keep up the good quit, lg. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 522 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,454 Amount Saved: $1983.6 Life Gained: Days: 97 Hrs: 10 Mins: 51 Seconds: 48
