thanks peteg for replying, just starting to calm down now after reading through a couple of different chains, darkmyer had one that addressed the physical and mental aspects of quitting, helped to know everyone deals with the anger and depression My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 172 Amount Saved: $27 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 41 Seconds: 17

Day 6, both my husband and i quit last Saturday night, well he has two in the morning before I get up so I guess he hasn't really quit yet. I can't believe how ugly and grumpy we both are, actually fighting about who was ugly first. We very seldom fight but I am having a hard time controlling my anger, and I seem to be angry and also feeling alot of self pity. Is this what is referred to as hell week. Also wanted to smoke all day even with the patch on, feel like we might as well be smoking than fighting. Hiya Pete,, Just finished reading all the responses... Everyone is so amazing huh? :) All great ideas, suggestions and comfort all rolled up into getting you through a rough day. One thing which truly "takes me away" is throwing in a DVD/video and I just get lost in the flick! I've noticed that reading is somewhat difficult for me right now.. lack of concentration this early in my quit, but not when it comes to movies. It's a great escape.. you might wanna try it. And as some other's have suggested - get under the covers and get all comfy cozy :) (((((((((((((((hugz)))))))))))) Monica My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 234 Amount Saved: $99 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 41 Seconds: 40

I guess it would sort of defeat the purpose to dry the Brussels Sprouts and smoke them? Hey, it worked with banana peels back in the day! ****** Thanks for everything, everybody! Made it through another weekend with your great support and advice. Wasn't nearly as bad as last weekend, either! I really appreciate the help. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 681 Amount Saved: $71.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 15 Seconds: 21

That is hillarious, Gonna! Thanks! Good news is that flowers came early this morning, so I don't have to do them late afternoon/early evening when I am at my most vulnerable. I'm also glad Kevin and Jake are around -- glad for everyone! The support is incredible and very, very strengthening. (Plus, I'm such a big ol' baby that I couldn't possibly face you all again if I gave in. One puff away from 2+ packs a day!) Thanks!!! peteg -- hanging tough My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 619 Amount Saved: $66 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 4 Mins: 8 Seconds: 9

UPDATE. Thanks, everybody, once again. You guys are the best. Flowers are done, as is everything else I have to do today. Because it was so early, there was zero trauma involved --- maybe a little wistfulness as I reached for a sip of water instead of a cigarette -- but it was more than okay. Thanks! Off to finish up some loose ends and then reward myself by taking all the time I want/need at the local gym...a real luxury on a Saturday. Usually have to rush, if I get there at all on a Saturday. Thanks again! peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 631 Amount Saved: $66 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 5 Mins: 2 Seconds: 7

HA! Just don't get too used to it, CC ... hell week ends in a matter of hours for you. With the onset of Heck Week, we expect lots of little smiley faces from you. (No more slapping hubby around, either; one week is all you get for that.) peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 646 Amount Saved: $66 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 24 Seconds: 39

Oh, do I ever know THAT feeling! The key is "might as well," where "might" is a very indefinite thing; you'll find your own strength by changing the "might as well" to a "most definitely NOT." Remember, whether it's Day 6 or Year 6, would we all rather not be ex-smokers who occasionally want a cigarette, or smokers who constantly want to quit? Me, I've been there, done that; I'll bet you have too, CC. I'd bid farewell to those nasty old "mights" and embrace the "definites" over which you have total control. You go, girl!! peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 644 Amount Saved: $66 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 5 Seconds: 26

I'd like to respond to this off-line, gonna; shall I just keep an eye on the IM thing? (Never done that before.) Oh. But I have to do the buddy thing, right? So UNtechnical! I'll see if I can manage that. Thanks! peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 642 Amount Saved: $66 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 2 Seconds: 15
