Question from my daughter

whynot.....well in my humble opinion, you are quit when you stop smoking? if you mean when is the journey over???? well it never ends....and that is cause you will always be a nicotine addict.....not an active one, but always that addiction resides in us. The withdrawal symptoms???? they go over time...everyone is different. Growing from your addiction is a lot like "them" growing into an adult....it doesn't just 'happen'. Perhaps they could relate to that? you and your kids should all plan rewards for milestones in your quits....this gives you somewhere to go with your happiness and the celebration of getting free from nicotine. These kids need to know the exact truth of what an addiction is....and that nicotine addiction is one of the worst there is. Don't hold back in being honest with them....it just might assure that they NEVER will be convinced it is cool to light up. I say this because I had a grandkid who abhorred smoking.....and lo and behold he is now smoking!! and he watched this whole family struggle to quit tobacco....I think he even realizes he is becoming hooked....but somehow peer pressure seems to be playing a part....you can never do too much to make the horror of nicotine addiction known.....and by the same token, you can never celebrate enough the freedom from it!
