lynne,
You should be proud. You really wanted to be a non smoker. I don't know if I could have not touched those three cigarettes when I was having hard times. Bravo for your mind set.
As for you leather case..... will those little white mints..or tick tacks fit in it? Better yet....SOUR ALTOIDS!!

This is what I cling to. I'm almost half way to 180 days, even though each day feels like a month long right now. Surely if I reach 180 days, it will be better and the craves won't be there. Thank you for these reflections, it is the fount from where hope springs.

Hi Lynne
I kept two fags just in case but the smoker in the house soon used them up and I was fine about that. Mind you that was when I was on about day 3 and still euphoric. Sounds as if you've had a couple of traumas to deal with and you've done well not to sneak in to that drawer and get those 'emergency' ones out so I'm sure you'll be fine about chucking them out now.
I slipped into alcoholism and some friends abandoned me but others were still around when I got myself sorted and I love them for forgiving me and still loving me - despite me being a total pain most of the time, so you are great to stick by your friend.
Possible uses for the Italian leather case..... What about After Eights, toothpicks, small pens from the Bookies in case of emergency?
Dunno.
Well done for your six months!!! :)

lynne,
You are amazing shipmate...keep up the good work.
Why don't you take your lighter and have your quit date burned into it and have it made into a bracelet, necklace or a pendant you can wear or hang on your reiwview mirror as a reminder of the "new you"?
:)
