Over the years I've been privileged to see people overcome some pretty heavy fears about what quitting was like. There are so many people that are convinced it is impossible to quit and so I want to dispel the myths. What is something that you thought or heard about quitting that you have overcome that didn't seem possible? I stole some common myths from the US Surgeon General to get us started: Myth 1: Smoking is just a bad habit. Myth 2: Quitting is just a matter of willpower. These are my suggestions: Myth 3: I'm too old (or too young) to quit. Myth 4: I have too much going on in my life right now to quit. I really thought that I was a little too "flaky" to stick it out. I can be very influenced by my feelings and those first months I rarely felt like staying the course. I'll tell you though I shocked everyone who knew me well when they realized this quit was for real!
