I had bouts of anxiety during the beginning of my quit but they don't seem to happen anymore. I had a prescription medication which I could take on the occasions when the anxiety was out of control. However, for me, knowing that I had the medication reduced the anxiety so I rarely had to use it.
Smoking was the way we dealt with stress, anxiety, anger, etc so we are bound to panic a little bit when we take it away. The great thing is that we learn new HEALTHY ways to deal with anxiety like a walk, a cold glass of water, deep breaths, a cup of tea, etc.
It will get better....Keep on with the good work!
