Over the last year I have had a few serious family illnesses. I have had to be strong thru all this and take care of the members who were sick/ill. I work part time and we recently got a new supervisor and boss who are very uncaring, bossy, unreasonable, etc. Every day there are emails saying do this or that or else. People who have been there 20+ years are being disciplined and told one more you are fired. We are understaffed, overworked and they expect more than what is possible. I have spoken up to be told too bad. I have been to my work counselor who told me 8 others have been in to see him. I saw my family doctor and told him I need time off from work so he wrote a note saying I needed off 3 weeks. He also said the problems will still be there and I said I know but maybe I can get my thoughts together, job hunt, etc. I am also having physical symptoms but overall I can function, take care of family, home, etc. My job had me talk to a psychologist who says I am depressed but not anxious (hmmm I have many anxiety symptoms) and I should be on antidepressants. I would like others opinions on this....since I can function, the situation that is causing me the stress won't be changed (unless the work counselor is doing what he says by going to others in the business about all the problems). He has talked to the supervisor and boss and they don't want to hear it but I found out another supervisor held a meeting talking about stress and helping each other, etc. That's not possible because everyone is so busy no one can help someone else. Many nights we leave work for the next shift. It's a mad circle...if you don't do this in this amount of time, you will be disciplined....but it's often impossible to do it. I love what I do but have been looking elsewhere. We need one more person in the dept. We did have enough help before the new boss came in and she cut back staffing. I told the counselor maybe he needs to go to my boss's boss and up the ladder to find out why these changes have occurred and what could be done. Thanks for anyones advice, suggestions, etc.
