Thanks to everyone and their positive output about Zoloft. So far it has helped and I do believe that it will continue to help me.

I was on Zoloft for nine months. During that time, I started seeing white specks of brilliant light before my eyes, which has never stopped. At one point, I was moved up to 100mg and the side effects were so powerful that it was moved down again. I have never taken an antidepressant or antipsychotic that does not have side effects, but that's just me. If you stick with your Zoloft and believe it will help while you work on your other problems, it just might even you out enough to help you in the long term.

I went though the same thing. I had too many bad days in the beginning. Now the bad days are fewer. Zoloft works for me but it is no cure all and it certainly is not a overnight cure. One benefit the I found with Zoloft is that it greatly reduces my aggressiveness. I don't get irritated nearly as easy. Also, if I have any side effects from Zoloft, it might be that I have put on six pounds in the two months that I have been taking it. I attribute that to my appetite coming back. I lost 18 pounds while I was in untreated depression. I really couldn't care less about food. I enjoy food again.

Well I have been on Zoloft now for about two weeks. It really seems to be helping. I still have had a couple of bad days but like I've heard before..."there is no miracle pill." I'll keep ya's posted.

Zoloft has been a great help to me. I was on Prozac and had problems with side effects. I have had repeated periods of depression. I have always been able to fight my way through them. This time I couldn't shake the depression. Zoloft has allowed be to return to a normal life.

I think these drugs are total horse ****. If you have personal problems, mankind needs to sort them out on their own. We don't need drugs to get our lives back on track. Especially how they force these things down children's throat. I should know, I took Straterra for 6 months when I was 14 and I didn't feel any difference. They even upped my dosage, nothing except a big gnawing depression that nearly threw me over the proverbial edge. My own sister took Zoloft, no effect. My Older cousin took Ritalin during High School, OD'd it and knocked her self out for several hours. Nearly a day actually. Depression is caused in most cases I've seen by lack of confidence. And the feeling of powerlessness. Here's what I did: I went to the weight room and did a little pumping to help my puny body and in a few short weeks, I managed to tone my body. I weigh 110 pounds and I can bench press about 2/3 of my own bodyweight. My confidence is rising, my grades are improving. And everyone else should try that. It would take down one of the most common causes for depression; obesity. Some fat people have little or no confidence in themselves. That's one of the many reason 66% of Americans are overweight or obese. Don't take mind-altering drugs like Zoloft or Ritlain, they are expensive, potentially dangerous, and have little or no effect on depression. Zoloft is not a magic pill that makes our woes go away, nor are alchohol or illegal drugs. So take it from me, drugs are not the way to go with dealing with depression. And besides the excercise would do people some good.

Hi, I'm new to this group and for the first time seeking medical attention for depression. I have been prescribed Zoloft 50mg. Can anyone give me any feed back about this medication? I've seen so many different medications being mentioned on this web-site but have not seen much on Zoloft. I'm uneasy about finally getting help and not really knowing what I'm being prescribed and the differences in all these different medications. Basically I'd like to better understand the different levels of depression and the different ways of treating each level. Just try'n to figure out who I've become and who I want to be in this whole thing.
