Thank you Angela. I would like to know if any of those here have been admitted or have admitted themselves for inpatient care in a hospital to help them get through their depression?

Hello! I'm new here and so sorry to hear of your loss. I've found as I've struggled many months now with major depression that I want to withdrawel and not be around anyone including my church friends who want to lift me up. I don't let anyone in because I'm afraid of what they'll think if I take the mask off that they see. My encouragement to you as I am trying to apply this to my life as well is to reach out to your church family. Let them lift you up when you can no longer stand on your own. I'm praying for you...for comfort and strength. Momofthree

It's cool that you've got a church that apparently understands what you're going through. You can't always expect that with organized religion, so it's cool that you've got that in your corner. But I know it's probably not enough in and of it's self sometimes, so hopefully you can find some peace of mind in the fact that there are those out there who know exactly how you feel. So although I may not be in the right frame of mind to give sound advice, I can say that you will be on my mind...for what it's worth anyway. I know it's been helpful for me to think of this thread in those terms.

Hi Sugar, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. This illness is tough enough without losing someone who sounds like they really helped you. It is good to see you are talking with a counsellor. It always helps me to talk with someone. It is also a good sign that you are remaining involved in your church. I have realized over the years that no matter how bad I feel, and no matter how hard it is to get out of bed, I have to continue to do the things I enjoy...even if at the time they are not as enjoyable, or are difficult to do. My heart goes out to you. Take care of yourself. ...Aqua

Hello Sugar, My thoughts are with you. I hope that you got through Christmas okay. I am new to this site but wished I could have been there for you in December. Christmas is such a tough season to get through and having to deal with the loss of your mother must have been so much. So big hugs from Canada!

Hi sugar, Other members will likely be responding to your post soon, but I just wanted to say I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I know from personal experience what it is like to lose a very close family member at Christmas time. I found that pictures and memories were very helpful. It was difficult initially, but now I consider them priceless. It is good to hear you have the support of your church and are seeing a counsellor. Please don't hesitate to reach out for help, these are some excellent resources. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Sincerely, Casey ____________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team
