Bob-
I was always a person who blamed myself whenever anything went wrong. i always apologized for everything. since starting therapy little at a time i have been able to step back and look at certain situations and realize that i had no control over them.that tends to help my self esteem greatly because i don't always walk around thinking i've done something wrong. i can also look at things in my life now and not make a big deal out of everything. i can see what is not as important- does that make sense? if you would like to talk more about this you are more than welcome to email me at oksomaybeimnuts@yahoo.com. Hi Bob-
I think that cognitive therapy is changing the way you think about things; events in your life etc. Shifting your thoughts from negative to positive. I am currently in therapy and i think it is what is known as CBT- cognitive behavioral therapy. that is helping me change my thinking as well as the way i react to things. and yes it has helped. everything in my life is not nearly the crisis it was when i began therapy. alot of times when i notice myself getting depressed i can pinpoint the trigger of it now and work my way through it. i still have a long way to go but it has made my quality of life much better.
