gr8...i feel the same as you do. i guess i just have accepted that my pdoc is for meds only. it does seem like a waste of time and money but what else can we do? im with my pdoc for about 15 minutes and he is writing the whole time and hands me my meds and that is it. he is nice and kind but he is not my tdoc. so i pay to see him once a month and my tdoc twice a month. that with meds....wooowee! do i fork out some cash. glad i still have a job! good luck to u gurlie!
Gr8fl,
I agree with you. The first 2 Psychiatrist I saw just handed me medication and said come back in a week. I was on one of my meds for 3 months with no change. I found that there is no communication or coordination between family doctors, psychiatrists or therapist. I am thankful that I have found a great psychotherapist who put me in toach with a great Psychiatrist. They communicate on a weekly basis to discuss my progress, or lack there of and what is Plan B, C, & D. I am hopeful that this will work soon as I am hanging on my a thread.

I don't know about you guys but it seems that psychiatrists today are simply medication managers offering little in the way of therapy, forcing those in need to go to a psychologist or other such therapist which can be an inconvenience not to mention an added expense.
Anyone else out there find this a little exasperating and confounding?
I have been to 3rd Psychiatrists so far, and each of them have diagnosed me differently. I have found that I need to trust my own instincts and do my own redearch on line.
Good luck,
Sharon
I am going to see a psychiatrist October 2.
This certainly won't be the first time, but I have better feelings about it this time around. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to my "evaluation" appointment. So hopefully, I can have a proper diagnoses and see if some of my suspicions will ring true.
I'll keep everything updated.
