Hero_At_Heart You have made the first step and thats a big one. This site is very helpful if you give it a chance. I have been on meds just a short time but feel like it helps me balance and have more rational thoughts. I talk to a profesional once a week and its good to talk about what has been bothering you for so long and your not alone. I have a read a book called Undoing Depression. It is very good and helpful in learning what really causes depression and some activities to help you cope and keep track of your mood changes. I wish you the best of luck. :) Debby

Hero-at-Heart, I am glad that you have decided to speak to someone and seek help. I have been dealing with depression, agoraphocia, anxiety and panic attacks for the past 4 months. One thing that I have learnt is that finding the right medication is not easy or quick. I have yet to find the right medication. I have just started therapy and it is extrememly hard. I am talking for about 1 hour of all my negative thoughts and problems but with no real way of dealing with them yet. Remember everything takes time and if you ever need to talk, plet me know. Sharon

Hero_At_Heart You've come to the right place! Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "PROGRAM TOOLS" you'll find our Depression Test. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. If you ever have any questions or concerns please click the "CONTACT US" link at the bottom of the page. We're open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Take Care, Melanie ________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team

Hi. Happened upon this site today, think it may come in handy for me in the future. Today I'm seeing someone about my depression. I've taken a couple of those online dealie tests that all seem to say that I may have dysthymia. It's odd - I never thought of it as depression, basically just thought I was a moody, grumpy, apathetic, withdrawn person. I always thought depressed people were the 'I can't get out of bed' and 'I sit in a corner and cry all day' type of things. I honestly hope that I am put on meds (magic pill to make me "normal" I guess) but, I do realize that - or I would like to realize that treatment should include medication and some sort of therapy where I talk to someone. I'm one of those people who hates to think that I cannot solve my own issues and I don't like admitting that I may actually need help to fix this. Sorry for rambling. Just wanted to say hello. :)
