Muse, Please take a look at our Depression Program and Depression test. You need to work slowly and can discuss it with your doctor. Our program will work with you step by step and pinpoint areas that you can work on. Please contact us if we can be of further assistance to you. I think there is something to that, but that also with having concrete information before me, I can feel more confident to do something with it, and use some of those traits differerntly. Funny I was a social worker, and had clients tell me I helped them, and could never manage to do it for myself, and was well respected professionally, so I'm trying to take that anal retentive perfectionist attirude on myself. Ok a lot of days I just "ruminate". But, this might sound ridicilious, but I got these markers you can write on glass & mirrors with (actually bought them for the son I tried to adopt) and write quotes or things on the bathroom mirror...I certainly can't avoid that. And sometimes, it's actually working. Makes me have to stop and reconsider how I am thinking/processing. Oh, and Meyers-Briggs, MMPI, they are tools in diagnosis, not the rosetta stone, don't hold yourself to a score, you sell yourself short. You shouldn't

I wanted to add something... I was wondering if anyone felt that depression was 'part of their personality' that couldn't be changed. As near as I can figure I've been depressed since childhood. I've tried intensive CBT (twice weelkly for 2 years), dozens of medications (including Risperdal and Valporic Acid), Al-anon,etc. and still I am depressed. I guess I believe you can change how you think to a degree, but I don't believe that you can change 'who you are'. According to the Myers-Briggs personality test I'm an INTP. Being an INTP means I ruminate, torture myself with decisions, have high expectations for myself yet can't keep the same job for long because I get bored, etc., etc. I feel like there's some truth to my INTP description. And I want to know if it means I am destined to be depressed.
