Hi and thank you! I'm actually doing not too badly on the meds, although I am more down today. I wouldn't think that the Effexor has kicked in yet, but the past few days I have felt a lot steadier, which is a very nice change! I am SO delighted to hear that you are doing well! I am determined to be right behind you...!! Lydster

Hi Lydster, Just wanted to check on you and see hoe the medication is doing, I know the first feww days suck, but it would get better with time, I'm sure. KEEP STRONG, give your self a bit of time, let the medication kick in and you'd feel the difference, I'm 95% recovered, I can't believe it! I'm sure the same will happen to you in a few days time. Take good care Fighter

Hey Lydster, That's fine, now you'd know what to do! That's great that you are going to get better soon, you may feel a bit unhappy for the first few days, but it will soon go away. I'm on day 9 since I've started Paxil and feel great!! I've lost a bit of weight, but feel good. Keep on talking to your doctor, keep strong and take good care. Try some vitamins as well while taking the pills, it helps. Keep up Fighter!

Hi Fighter! Thanks for asking - I just got back from the doc's, and my appointment went really well. He has started me on Effexor, and believe me I am glad for it! I was quite convinced that I needed an antidepressant again, because I was just imploding due to a recent traumatic event. I feel good that I am taking positive steps to look after myself. THANK YOU so much for your kind words and encouragement. Isn't this a great forum? I do hope that your days are going smoothly. Take good care..! Lydster

Lydster! How did it go with your doctor? It's great that you have been med free for the last 8 months, but no worries if he puts you back on meds. Cause meds help you to recover from the symptoms and more importantly help you to get on with your life. I'm feeling better today, and I'm planning to see a psychotherapist in two weeks time. I'm sure you'll feel better by woking on the program and get well soon. Keep up. YOU CAN COPE. Fighter!

Hey! I'm on session three this week, so we are at about the same spot. I really like the program - I am a bit of an 'academic' so I do well with reading and homework. The whole thinking/brain chemistry thing is tough, isn't it? I feel like that too, I think negative thoughts but it's like I don't have the "power" to stop them unless I'm on meds. I hate it when I "know better" but I still can't really get a grip on my thoughts. That's depression I guess! It's great news that your meds are starting to make a difference.. YAY!! If you don't mind, keep your fingers crossed for me - I finally get to see my psych tomorrow, and I hope he lets me have meds (he took me off Prozac a year ago, I've been med-free for about eight months now).. I just cannot cope with anything right now (except doing the program). I hope your day today ROCKS!! Take care, Lydster

Hi Lydster, Thanks for your kind message, the medication has started to kick in, I'm feeling quite good in the evenings, but in the morning I have the same old silly thoughts. At this stage, feeling guilty is the most annoying feeling I have, but I think with the medication it will go away with time, as it has before! I think what you say is right, I need to change the way I think, although the way I think really depends on the chemicals in the brain!! Isn't it? But it is comforting to know that feeling guilty all the time is a symptom of depression and may go away whn depression is cured. So I'm trying to continue with the program, I'm at seesion two now. I hope things will get better with time. cheers!

Hi Fighter! I think that having guilty feelings can often be part of the 'depression thing'. I sure feel guilty a lot of the time. Sometimes I can see that my "guilt" isn't really appropriate, but other times I am convinced that I am just plain bad and I carry around this huge burden of guilt. I believe that medication often does help to alleviate these thoughts/feelings. I'm currently not on meds at all (got an appointment on Wednesday, though!), but I remember when I first went on antidepressants (Prozac, it was...), I realized that I no longer felt guilty about stuff. This seemed to take somewhere around four to six weeks - one day I just realized, hey I feel pretty good. I'm finding that the Program here (the sessions that you go through one at a time, with homework) is helping me to get a grip on my "inappropriate" thoughts too, like my guilty thoughts. The whole "feeling guilty" thing has been a life-long battle, and the most important part of all of it for me has been to try and change my thinking about it. The meds have helped me, but I think for me the real battle will always be with my own thinking. I hope that your time at work goes well for you.

Fighter, Take the time to check with your doctor and pharmacist regarding medication side effects and dosages. Begin to challenge those thoughts and use the program to guide you through. The members will be along shortly to share their experiences :) Keep Strong, Josie ___________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team.

dear friends, I have started work today and it's about an hour that I'm in the office, I had a few days off last week because I had started Paroxetine 20mg, but it was a mistake to stay at home, cause I had all those silly thoughts all day. Although it's hard to concentrate on the job, but I feel less pressure on my mind. The biggest problem I have is a kind of phobia, I'm always feeling guilty and that hurts me so much, is this a symptom of depression and is it normal, you guya think it goes away with time and proper medication? Thanks
