Thanks Danielle, I hope to be able to get a bit better using this wonderful site, and I am very happy to have found it. I am doing the activity record every day, since all I do is sit in front of the t.v anyway, and I have already noticed the ups and downs depending on what I am doing. Common sense stuff, but obviously I need to learn it. I also find it rewarding to reply to others and possibly help people with advice from my own experience. I have had BPD for 47 years of my life, only found out that fact two months ago, so it was quite a shock but explains my depressions quite nicely. It has been a very rocky road, but along the way I have found enough coping skills to not kill myself and keep on trying so if I can help others, that makes me feel really good. I think what you people are doing is fantastic and actually will help me more than my shrink who is only interested in getting me on as much drugs as she can. Since none of them work, I am not too happy with her. I want to get well, I want to try new things to fix myself, and I think I have the power to do so, without being a drugged vegetable. She keep insisting I need high doses of antidepressants, but after trying over 10 different kinds in 2 and half years, I don't believe that is the solution for me. She is only useful to fill out all the disability forms I need, but she charges me for every one, so I think the system really lacks any value at all. I would be better off fixing myself for free, than paying her for being useless. Thanks for listening! L.

Hi I'm Lenore and just found this site today. I did the first lesson and I hope it will work for me. It makes sense anyway. I have been depressed and also have other issues for all of my 47 years, but logically I know if there is a problem there must be a solution, so I keep trying different things. Meds don't work for me, except Seroquel which I take to sleep and avoid nightmares. Life experiences and bio-chemistry seem to both be the gifts given to me, so I will try this CBT and see what happens, it can't make it worse! I hope to meet and talk with some other people who understand how hard it is to have this and live in the real world. Nice to meet you! L.

I have begun the program, I'm on week one. I was hesitant, for some reason, about telling my therapist I was doing this, but she was quite supportive and thought it was a great idea. Thanks for the url on anxiety- I'll check it out.

Seeing how there's no way I'd usually introduce myself first thing, in a forum, let me introduce myself. I'm crescentdave, 52, and here's my alphabet soup: MDD, GAD, PTSD, CMT (polyneuropathy) ... etc. I had a major depressive episode June 2006 and have been in therapy for about a year now. Background history is multiple hospitalizations ... drug & alcohol abuse until 1991. Have been in AA/NA, and did not have major symptoms until the last two years. Things came to a head this summer. Since my MDE, I haven't been able to work, due to depression and anxiety. I'm looking towards becoming involved in this because there are daily/weekly exercises/sessions and I'm feeling the need to become more methodical and consistent in my efforts. I'm especially interested in how to moderate my anxiety levels because they're fairly strong on a regular basis and can rise to levels that incapacitate me. I'm taking buproprion and buspirone, with alprazolam when the anxiety spikes. For all who've posted in these forums, thanks! I've already picked up useful information.
