mpk, Good for you for taking a step forward! E-mail or present this to your doctor and therapist, again to better assess your situation and to help pinpoint areas work on. Medications can effect sleep. It is best to check with your pharmacist regarding medication side effects and dosages. They have a world of knowledge to give :) Josie, Support Specialist

mpk, Welcome to our support community. Please take a look at the program and fill in the Depression test. Take a copy to your doctor and therapist to help better assess the situation for you both. The program can help you progress through your depression and also help challenge those thoughts and emotions. Our members are supportive and knowledgeable and can really help make a difference. Post often and share with us :) Relaxation techniques can help with sleep. Start a relaxation ritual each night and make sure you are relaxing yourself. This will help you ease into sleep and wake refreshed. Josie, Support Specialist

Hi. I'm new to the group and have been battling depression for the past 4 weeks. I thought I was starting to improve but now I'm not sure. The latest thing to hit me is my lack of sleep. I go to bed around 10 and it takes me about 30 minutes or so to fall asleep. Lately I've been waking up around 3am or 4am and can't get back to sleep. I feel very tense and anxious. I am taking 100mg of zoloft and 15 mg of buspar for meds and I am talking to a therapist. Any suggestions on how to get more sleep?

Hi maggie, Welcome to the site. Thanks for sharing your introduction here with us. Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "PROGRAM TOOLS" you'll find our Depression Test. The purpose of this is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. The Depression Center offers personalized, interactive tools that have helped thousands of people challenge and overcome their depression. CBT is only effective when you do the homework. Worksheets help you track your homework exercises and CBT is a lot of work! As you move through the Depression Program the worksheets will change as you change. Make sure you give yourself time to do the homework properly - you know your depression best so it's really up to you to decide how often you do your homework. Take your time when you do your homework, there is no rush! Each session in the Depression Program is based on previous sessions, and if you track your mood with your Mood Tracker (and keep notes in the spaces provided) you'll see much improvement over the coming weeks. At the beginning of each session we give you a Weekly Review, which allows you to see how far you've progressed. We save your Weekly Review results in your Session Diary, so you will see a collection of results, which are all based on what you write in your worksheets. CBT is a lot of work but the good news is that if you follow the program it will all come together for you as you start to feel better. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions or concerns. Casey ___________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team.

Hi, I'm new to this site, but familiar with the Panic Center. I was told that I was probably depressed before the panic attacks started, so it was suggested I look into this if I wanted. My counsellor said I am dealing with some abandonment issues. My Dad had died 25 years ago and I was 18 years old. Two other close people died within 1 month of my Dad passing away. A lot to deal with when you're 18, I'm finding. So I'm hoping I can do this program and try to be happy again and excited about my life and my family.
