I have joined NAMI. It is the National Association for the Mentally Ill. They are having a fundraising event in Lexington, KY where people get together and raise money for NAMI. It is a 3.1 k walk. I have signed up to walk and I think my son and his family are going to walk with me! I am so glad to have their support in this. My son is an attorney so if a case interferes they are at least going to contribute financially. I am excited about this. I am also anxious about riding the bus 5 hours from here to Lexington with a bunch of strange people and being in a large crowd! I may drive myself, but I think that is more alienation. But forget all that - I signed up and I'm raising money for a group that advocates for persons with mental illness and does research. It also spends it's money wisely! I am so proud of myself for typing in some generic information to join and paying that $35. I am also sending out 25 letters to raise money for my part in the walk. (not asking for contributions - just talking about my success or scheduled success and how excited I am about being a part of it).
