Thank you for your very supportive post Leslie. Very wise.  How do you think you got to that point in your thinking? What were a few things you did that helped?

Welcome to the forums

I know I am a little late in responding but I have been in a whirlwind.  I too am a widow for 5 1/2 yrs now.  I also have been in a relationship, for a little over 4 yrs now.  I also feel paniced when I think of the prospect of being alone again. The panic and grief and sheer sickness I felt when my husband got sick and later died was unbearable.  When I think about being alone again it is very frightening.  I find grieving is a long process.  I am not sure you ever get over losing a partner you just get used to it and the thought of losing someone else and having to go through it again is very frightening especially when you never really get over all the people you have lost.  I have just had to try to learn to live with it and move on, but I sometimes wonder if I am with the right person or just afraid of dealing with the grief all over again and feeling that horrible lost and empty feeling again.  I think we can just do the best that we can and try to live out our life as happily as possible.  I hope you come back to the group and read this post so that you will know that you are not alone in your feelings

God be with you

Hello,

I have been widowed for two years.  I started dating, many thought too soon, and found someone that I have become very close to.  Our relationship has had many ups and downs, causing me to feel panicked and sick to my stomach.  We have remained friends and even thoughts of reconciliation have surfaced.  I seem to be unable to curb these negative feelings.  I to find it difficult to stop my feelings.  In reflecting on the issues, I realize that many of my feelings have been unfounded due possibly to having depression.  During the time of a brief separation, I have met another person that is also wanting a relationship and I continue to have these feelings when we are not together.  I do try to analyze my feelings and for a good deal of the time, I am okay.  These feelings of panic and sickness come when I am feeling alone.  I am going to try getting some help professionally but any input from others feeling the same would be helpful.

Thank you,
e.
