HEllo Mmgsc,

I think Ashley and Goofy said it all. And as such I will just say: Hang in there and welcome to the forums

mmgsc,

It is not acceptable that you are being bullied at work.  Workplace bullying is a serious problem and can cause serious mental and physical health problems for the victim.  There are many workshops and seminars your workplace should look into for the company.  They need to make changes in their work culture so that this stops.  It is in their best interest to have a bully free work environment.  People who feel they are being bullied are not as productive and are more likely to take more sick days and even disability leave.

I think if you are able to it is important to assert yourself.  Tell the bully that his/her behavior is unacceptable and ask them to stop. Do NOT retaliate.  Keep a journal of the persons actions, include dates, times and witnesses names. Save memos, emails and other written documents of theirs.  If the bullying does not stop take this information to HR or your manager.  If nothing is done or your reports are minimized go to the next level of management.

It is important to know that it is not always the character of the event that is the problem it is the frequency and number of events that will indicate bullying.

This is a lot to handle and it is normal to feel overwhelmed but it is not right for you to feel like a victim.  We can get through this together. Just know there are options, you do not need to feel helpless.  I also suggest you talk to your counselor about these ideas.  Even if you feel uncomfortable approaching anyone to address this now, it is a good idea to record the bullying.

It is great that you have recognized writing helps.  It is true journaling and writing are very theraputic and I encourage you to continue.  This support group is perfect or you to come and write. The more posts you write the better!  We would love to read as much as you would like to write .

I am sorry you feel you are shutting down.  It is important that you keep trying to eat healthy so I am glad you have made that one of your goals.  We are all here for you, please know you are not alone in this.  Try to do something that will make you happy today.  This will pass.

Hi Ashley,

As far as my company goes, many people outside my department see what is going on, so it's not just a depressed viewpoint. I've been talking to my HR person about various issues for over two years now, but she does nothing but tell me to 'stick with it.' I made sure she and my boss were aware of my depression issues, since you can't get ADA protection if they don't know, but it seems that the ADA is very weak when it comes to these types of things. And I don't want to go all legal, that would end my career int his company. I just want to be left alone and not bullied anymore.

Goofy & Ashley, since I have nobody to talk to, writing helps. Maybe instead of writing long rambling emails to family and people I don't know very well (one reason I'm alone), maybe posting here will be better.

I am shutting down so much these past couple of days, that my goals are just to eat something (I stopped eating before in the early days) and perhaps so just one day of my 'homework'.

Thanks for listening.

mmgsc, glad to have you in the support group.  Not happy to see another person who is struggling so much with depression.  However, posting here, getting good feedback and the interaction with others has been very helpful.  I hope that you find the same thing here.  I look forward to your posts and your insight into my posts.
It's okay that you don't see how everyone else is.  You can see if any posts you relate to and go from there.  I hope you stick with it.  I have my ups and downs these days but not near as far down as I used to be.  This program was definitely the catalyst.

mmgsc welcome to the group!

You did a very good thing coming here and good for you to trying to keep with the program.  You sound like you are feeling alone in this.  You are not we, are all here to support you.  You also sound very discouraged.  I know this can be frustrating but you are taking important steps to improve your situation and that's great.

Try to set one small goal for yourself each day and ensure that you reward yourself!  What can be one goal that you will accomplish today?  It can be anything from doing the dishes to going for a walk to starting a book you have been meaning to read.

You sound like you are frustrated with your situation at work.  It bothers me to read that you are the companies scapegoat.  Have you talked to anyone at work about this?  What is something you can do to improve your situation at work?

Post as often as you like.  We will get through this together.

Hi everyone.

I'm mmgsc100

I'm new to The Depression Center, but I've been struggling for three years now. I'm far better than I was in the early days, but I've been on a downward slide for the past several months. I have MDD, and unofficially CPTSD. Since CPTSD is not an official diagnosis, I'm not allowed to really have it .

I'm doing this wrong by making this post without having read how other people are doing it.

I pretty much ready to give up. I have little support at home, no friends to talk to - just my therapist and I pay her to listen. I am not valued at work, so I don't look forward to going in. I'm the department scapegoat, since I don't fight back. I've started this program, but not really since I have not done my 'homework'. I keep a journal, but recently have fallen behind, and when I 'catch up' I lose the detail. I have no goals and cannot make plans beyond a couple weeks. My family no longer allows me to be alone for any length of time, as I just shut down when left with my thoughts.

I do not expect help here, not do I even expect improvement. I hope just having someone to talk to will keep me going until I have another upturn  **crossing fingers**
