Hi Wildlife,

I'm glad to hear that you are finding the program useful! It's great that you can be gentle with yourself and what you put on your plate. We do encourage small steps, which lead to small successes. Keep up the good work!

Just wanted to echo - that was really useful to read!

I'm thinking that a major core belief/assumption I have been making = 'I should be doing more.' What a belief! And also never-ending, because there can always be 'more'! Oof.

It could also be an impatience issue. In the past, I've tried too quickly and failed just as fast, instead of taking baby steps, which really does seem to be more effective.  I'm finding that this program has been more effective for me than books, because I'll read the latter too fast.  With this, I've been able to stick with the week-at-a-time portions.

Another example, in the past, I've tried to jump into exercising, 30 mins a day, like I'm 'supposed to'.  Now I'm taking baby steps (first doing 3 mins of stairs every day, and now adding alternate days of crunches), and I've actually been at it for 2 wks! Now I'm gaining more confidence in building on that progress..

Hi Goofy, glad to hear that working no the house and coming to the depression center has been working for you. It's great to see how far your house has come! And also that your friend has shown you that there are different ways to look at situations.

Members, I encourage you to try and find the positive side of things!

My friend came to visit me this weekend and we were discussing how great the house looks.  I mentioned to him that the past three weeks or so had been time consuming and I hadn't been doing my daily list of things (most of you have heard them all before) to combat my depression except coming here.  He said "yes you have".  You've done more to help your depression in the past three weeks even if you haven't done those things.  I had been feeling anxious about not having done everything or so very little and was afraid I'd crash and burn....but he made such a good point and opened my eyes to the fact that my current activity is combating my depression.
Just a different way to see something and another way those negative thoughts can pop up out of no where and almost consume us when in reality it's something totally different.
I hope that made sense.  I will go back to my routine for my depression treatment after I complete the inside of the house, but for now, I've got a new depression treatment!!!!!!!
Working on the house and coming to the depression center....
