Welcome Pixgirl:

I'm fairly new here myself.  I can tell you that the session material in the toolbox is very good as I'm sure you will soon find out.
The forums are very supportive as well.  Take your time and explore Depression Centre.  I think you will like here.

Welcome Pixgirl.   I think you've taken a giant step by coming to this site and I hope you take advantage of everything that's offered here.   The sessions are very helpful if you work them and just posting to this forum (or just reading the other posts if that's what you want to do) is rewarding.   It's a great thing to hear someone else say that they have felt the same way, done the same things, etc.    I look forward to hearing more from you!

Hi pixgirl79,

First of all I would like to welcome you to our online support community and thank you for sharing your story with us. Take this site and all that is has to offer in stride.

There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you. Feel free to ask questions and write about your experiences as much as you need to. We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

You have taken the first step to learn more about your depression. On this site you will find a toolbox on the left hand side. Your toolbox contains sessions dealing with a variety of topics to help you learn more about depression and setting goals among many other topics. Start working through the sessions, you can start by allotting 10 minutes a day to working on the sessions and work your way up to longer time.

It will be important for you to take one thing at a time. Work on what makes you least uncomfortable first and once you feel ready you can move on to the more difficult topics.

Our research shows that the more you work the sessions the better you will feel.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support! We are here for you!

Hi.

I'm not sure how much faith I have in all of this... or even if I'm on the right site? This all looks a little overwhelming to me!

In high school my mom was told I was manic depressive(lower) by the school psychologist. I was tested both written and verbally and even took that ink blot test. Anyhow, after a few months of talking he tried to refer me to someone else, because he thought I should be put on anti depressants. But I dropped out and never finished 11th grade. I was 19yrs old. Yes.. in 11th grade.

Now I'm 31 today. I live at home still.....I have never had a bank account or card.... I have never driven a car..... I have never gotten a license..... I have never dated......I have never worked.... I have never paid for anything (if I was to leave the house, which is rare) I have never been to a regular doctor. I have no friends and haven't had one sense I was 12. My mom, sister, brother n law and little nephew is all whom I am close to. I live in a fantasy world day to day..... sometimes that can be a good thing, like only when I make stuff up.... I can smile.

I have a social anxiety problem, a major one. Like in high school I was asked by the school psychologist why I don't eat lunch (didn't for the whole year) and I answered like this...

1. I'm not hungry
2. The food is nasty
3. It's to loud in there
4. People make me nervous (AND whispered that I don't like to admit it.. but maybe this one should be first)

At one point I was on disability but when I refused to go and talk to the person they wanted to send me to after a year, I lost it. It was another psychologist.

There is nothing wrong with me physically. I can walk/talk/run/jog/jump.. ect.

....there
