I am stuck listening to Green day! Not bad and very motivating..they kids clean their room to this and it gets done in minutes!
On the other half of the coin the wife likes to move to Andrea Boccelli.... I need to find some in between,,think everyone would listen to my old beach boys??
I think it is interesting to explain why we picked the songs we did and what they mean to us. I know mine are ever changing and I agree with whom ever said, the lyrics and their interpretation are important.
I like I am...I said by Neil Diamond.....thought everyone would think that is a depressing song, but is very inspiring to me. I like it better than the Neil Diamond song I listed.
Anyway, thanks for sharing why you picked and I'd like to hear the stories behind the others as well.
Kittykat: Was I that mysterious about listing the songs I did?
The first song I chose by Josh Groban is a big favorite because about 4 years ago I reconnected with someone whom I had a very important friendship with about 30 years ago. After all the catching up we had to do, I realized that he had experienced almost the same thing back then that I was going through at this particular time of my life. Our friendship picked up at the place that we left it way back then, and I realized that he was same person now as he was back then even though he had suffered a lot of pain, loss and lonliness. Well, that was a big explanation for a simple song. Sorry....
Eric Clapton's song has always touched me because I have always felt it was about hope after loss and he penned that song after experiencing a terrible loss in his life.
I think Chasing Cars is a joyous song and I've heard (though I don't know if it's true or not) that it is about a father spending time with his child and experiencing life again through the eyes of a child. I could be completely off-base with this one, but I like to thing that this is what it's about and for that reason I like it.
As you can see, I'm into lyrics. But, the music has to be great, too, in order to enjoy the whole.
This is really hard. I really liked everyone else's songs (the one's I recognized anyway). Love Soak in the Sun, Tears in Heaven, most stuff my Neil Diamond, and Neil Young rocks. The artists I didn't recognize I'm going to check out. Thank you to everyone contributing to the list.
I had a hard time picking, and these are only my currents too:
1. How Can I Keep From Singing-- Enya
2. Road Trippin-- Red Hot Chili Peppers
3. Lose Yourself-- Eminem
Yeah... Eminem. That song is uplifting, strong, and inspiring though. So I like lots of different music, and that's my tiny list. And Goofy, I loved that story too. So sweet.
Well, this is fun, but like Goofy said, hard to do. I have different favorite songs for each mood, time of the year and state of emotional well-being! But, here are my current faves. Each of them have a different reason for being a current favorite.
You're Still You, by Josh Groban Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton and Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
Okay, had a hard time picking three, in fact, timed out trying to decide. My favorite instrumental is Candy Duffer "Lily Was Here". My first song I ever thought was a pick me up was the Carpenters "Top of the World".
Here's where I am at now:
Pretty Amazing Grace - Neil Diamond
Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler (when my son finished his first year in law school he bought me a box (I collect boxes) that played this song. He told me I was the Wind Beneath his Wings.....I always thought he was the Wind Beneath My Wings, as I had him when I was 16 and when started law school, I was working on my doctorate. We went to school and grew up together. He's now graduated from law school, as a successful practice, a beautiful wife, a precious daughter, and he's an awesome son.
