Members,
Happy April Fools!
In spirit of the day we have compiled a short list of historic April fools pranks!
•
The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest – in 1957, a BBC
news show discussed on the show that due to a warm winter and the
elimination of the spaghetti weevil there would be an increase in
spaghetti crops! Many viewers called the show asking how they could
grow their own spaghetti! The show responded by saying to place a
piece of spaghetti in a can of tomato sauce and hope for the best! HAHA
•
The Left-Handed Whopper
– In 1998, Burger King announced in a full page ad the introduction of
the left handed whopper. The whopper would have all the same
ingredients but the condiments would be rotated 180 degrees. The next
day Burger King announced it was a hoax. Thousands of customers had
requested the new left handed whopper the day before!
•
UFO Lands in London –
In 1989, a glowing flying saucer descended upon London. The police
were called and the craft landed in a small field. A police officer
approached the craft and the small door opened. A silver suited figure
appeared and the police officer ran in the opposite direction!
Apparently the prank was staged by Richard Branson of Virgin Records.
• Flying Penguins! – In 2008, the BBC reported that they
had footage of rare flying penguins! The video become one of the most
viewed videos on the internet! The video explained that instead of
staying in cold Antarctica the penguins would fly miles to the
rainforests of South America!
