Hi Jules,

I am glad you decided to get back into the program. The program has helped me quite a bit! I devoted about 15 minutes minimum to working on the sessions and honestly I learned a lot and I really appreciate what it has done for me.

Check in soon, let me know how it goes!

Hi Jules1661,

Welcome back to the online communit, it sounds like you have been making great progress and are seeing things clearer. I do encourage you to get back into the program. The great thing about the depression program is that you can work through the sessions at your own pace. The program covers several important topics and there are also program reference tools that are quite valuable as well. Take your time, do a little bit of homework each day and post here often as well.

Hi, i lost my way after initially starting the program - have been seeing a counsellor for last couple of months and the numb feeling i had is starting to disappear.  Its kind of scarey now because my mind is clearer and im having and wanting to make decisions about my future but not actually sure what this looks like yet.  I think i'd like to start this program again and work through it now im thinking more clearly but if anybody has any advice on how to deal with coming out of a depressive episode would be great to hear from you.

Welcome Jules! It was really interesting to read your story. It is great to see how depression can manifest itself differently in each individual case. You deserve to be passionate about things again! Strive for this, see your counsellor, work the program here and post often! We are here for you.

Thanks for welcome.  I haven't said anything to counsellor about concerns re discussing the past yet, i will ask her why its something to look at next time i see her.  Re connecting i think i just want to feel angy or passionate about things again.  Whether is my work, social activities, hobbies etc rather than just feel flat all the time.  Struggling with keeping the daily activity log so frequently - try to do at the end of the day.

Welcome Jules,

It sounds like you are off to a great start.  Be sure to stick with the program and with us!

You mentioned that you are unsure of the effectiveness of bringing up past issues.  Did you mention these concerns with your counselor.  Perhaps if she/he is able to explain why it is important you may be able to invest yourself more to the process.

You mention you would like to feel connected again.  What would that look like? What would it mean to be more connected?  How would it feel?

i've just joined and am here to say hello.  Ive been living with "depression" for about 6 years.  Current counsellor says i tend to fall towards being a functional depressive.  On the surface i cope with life, have a job, home etc but inside am battling with some sort of inner turmoil which eventually wears me out.  I have tried to deal with it myself, haven't seen my gp or taken any medication on this.  3 years ago i started to see a counsellor and found that helped.  Finished after about a year cos i felt it had run its course of usefulness and i seemed to be back on an even keel.  My episodes seem to fluctuate sometimes by the month, and i feel im slipping back for a longer period now and have just started to see a counsellor again.   I hate this feeling of on the surface seeming fine but underneath feeling flat, like im not connecting with the world, and dont really know what my true self is.   This counsellor seems to want to look back at the past more than the other counsellor and discuss events in my life that ive found difficult.  Its quite draining and emotional and I wonder if it helps to drag up the past sometimes as it makes me feel quite unsettled.  Still i think i need to perservere and see how it works out.  I read through session 1 with interest and am just starting to keep the activity and mood tracker.  Am hoping that by doing this and seeing the counsellor i will start to feel connected again soon.  Many thanks.
