Is this caused by depression? Will it go away if the depression goes away?

So in short: I'm not discrediting the meds, I think that the meds work optimal when used with additional tools, such as therapy, good friends, sharing experiences etc. etc.

Thanks for taking the time and energy to clarify what you were saying  Jacques.  Thank goodness (and Evolution Health ) that we have so many tools to choose from.

Hi FF.... thanks for sharing your avatar & sig information. I like yours :) and always find the reasons why rather interesting. You can find other threads (including the one on Avatars) by clicking on Forums and when you are at the forums page, look to the right under the line of avatars and click on "Today's Active Discussions" ... there you will find all the recent postings.

I guess I caused some confusion... what I was trying to say was that just meds alone would not be a solution, we still need other things to happen to handle the depression. Therapy, including the program on this website, is one the things that gives us the tools to make it happen. The more tools we have to handle depressions, the more effective we can treat our depression.

For myself I definitely need the meds right now. I hope I will be able to drop the meds in the future, but I know it won't be in the near future. It will be months if not years. I know I don't have the right dose currently, as I'm still decending further. But I also noticed that the decent is much less dramatic than with previous eposides; in that regards the meds are working for me, just not yet optimal.

I can't find the place you were referring to to explain my username & photo. Well thanks for the compliment, it's a wedding photo, I got remarried August 2009 ;).  FFirecracker, my husband calls me his little French Firecracker, for the little fire in my belly ;).  How about you? Or let me know where I can find the thread ;)

Thanks M, you're obviously a very caring person. I commend you for it. I'm sure therapy works.  I just think in my case, where I have a strong feeling it's not situational as much as clinical, I don't know how it could help me.  Then again, I could be wrong.  After I felt better thanks to the meds, I was running out of insurance allocation for a psychologist, so I stopped going.  I felt the need a few times throughout my treatment though, as I still had ups and downs at some point like I mentioned earlier.  And this week especially, it would have been nice to see a psychologist.  I'm playing it by hear.

Jacques.... for me, I need both meds and therapy.  It has taken me decades to find the right combinations, but I have, so I do understand what you are saying about only meds not being the answer for you.  But I do need to acknowledge that  different things work differently for other people.  thank god we have the opportunity to experiment for ourselves (with a docs help!) and then share our experience with each other.  There is such healing to be found in community.  thanks for your input.

Congratulations FF...  I have to agree that meds can very much be the answer.  Everyone is different and it will work for some and not others and there is an absolute myriad of combinations of drugs that can be tried and it takes tremendous perseverance and patience.  You seem to know what the combination is for you and are getting back to it.  I'm so glad for you.  PLUS.... YAY!  you started your blog. Oh my.... all this positive **** in just a few days.  I hope you are giving yourself credit for the perseverance that has brought you this far.  I'm so glad to see it.  I do so look forward to your posts.  Thanks for hanging in there and thank you for your honesty.  Aren't any of us going to get better without that!

Tell me... if you will, about the picture you are using for your avatar (beautiful BTW) as well as the reasons behind your choice of screen-name.  There is another thread with this question ongoing.... if you can find it, post your answer over there so we can continue the conversation.   Thanks FF .  Thanks!

Actually, I'm not gonna let myself go down with that, or you for that matter. I just read your thread, and I feel like I have to tell you that ADs can help.  When I was diagnosed 4 years ago, I was convinced nothing could help me. I tried a first AD, and it failed me. Not only failed me, made me 5x worse.  But (I was lucky) the 2nd one actually did work.

When I'm feeling like this, I tend to forget that. But one of the reasons I decided to wean off was because i felt I was Ok enough.  I had some downs, even at some point I thought the ADs had 'pooped out', so I tried to wean off then, went to 37.5 and really saw the symptoms coming back.  So I upped them back to my original 150mg.  My mood improved again.

In some cases, I do believe meds are the answer.  In my case, I realize it must be more clinical than situational, and all that has worked for me, were the ADs.  Maybe you just don't have the right combination, don't give up.  There are too many success stories, we see all the negative stories online, because happy people don't usually waste their time browsing depression boards. Make sense?  I know I didn't touch a depression board or anything remotely close while I was feeling good, except for my 'pooping out' scare.  I hope it makes some sense.

Hi Jacques,

Thanks for sharing this with me. However, unless I totally misread your message, I hear you saying that even the meds are not the answer.  If that is the case, I don't know what else to do, as I figure I have tried everything.. from acupuncture, to hypnosis, including herbs, yoga, exercise, many therapists, etc.  I have to say your message kinda brings me down a big clump.
