Love hearing from you! Glad to hear how well you are doing in your work life! You have always been so supportive and insightful in the forums; it makes perfect sense that you would excel in a helping profession!
If you can give one piece of advice to new members about the program what would you tell them?
I am one of the 'newbies' :) This program is fantastic and it has helped me a lot!
Great to hear you are counseling, sometimes I think I'd like to do that myself one day. My friends say that I am very good at listening and giving advice, surely that must be a good start, right? :)
Thanks for returning here, is great to have your support.
And good luck with quitting smoking!! Must be one hell of a task but the rewards will be equally big :)
Just a note to say I've returned to work full-time again at the alcohol/drug rehab center. I'm working on quitting smoking but with a therapist plan. It's taking forever, but I'm making strides - slow long strides. I've had some health issues re: low potassium levels that I don't think have helped my depression and low energy level but I'm working on that with the doctors. I've missed some work but because of the potassium, I can't go back to the landscaping which was an escape.
I like working with people and after years of counseling, I think it is where i belong. It feels good to make a difference and I definitely can see the fruits of my labor. Of course the recidivism rate is high, but a little difference goes along way in recovery from addiction. I guess a little difference goes along way with my depression, too.
I'm checking into getting my certifications back. I don't think, nor my therapist, I'm ready to return to that, but I might as well have them, right? Right!
Well, checking in and hope to come around more often. I miss y'all bunches. Love to get to know some of the new folks hanging around and encourage them to keep working through the program. Things do get better. It does take time and this is an awesome place to spend it - well, worth the effort.
