I feel the most stressed at home when there is too much noise. The noise in my enviroment, coupled with the noise in my head so to speak, is too much. I go to a quiet place, or quieter at least, where there are no people and I simply sit by myself for a little while. I find this calms me down and I can deal with the noise/stress again. Luckily my entire family and extended family realize this and accept it.
It also helps me to clean/tidy up to relieve stress at work. If my work space is messy then I get less done and feel more stressed. Taking time to clean up means I get more done and feel more accomplished.
Our focus in recent posts has been on stress management. Below are some additional ways to release tension and stress.
Self-hypnosis
Progressive Muscle Relaxation
Exercise
Balanced diet
Aromatherapy
Going out with friends
Equal work-life balance
Spirituality or Religion
Keeping a daily planner
De-cluttering your space
Leaving 15 minutes earlier for appointments or work
Relaxing your standards – the world will not fall to pieces if the laundry is left for tomorrow.
Earplugs for noisy environments or 15 minutes of quiet
Focus on understanding as opposed to being understood, really listen to the other person.
