Fighting Depression & Anxiety with FM

Welcome Teen,

You have come to the right place. This program and support group can help you with depression. With treatment depression can be very manabable. One of the most effective treatments is cognitive behaviour therapy and this program is based on it. Take your time reading the sessions and do the homework and you will likely notice a difference after a few sessions. Have you had a chance to take a look thus far? Any questions?

Also, you might get more responses if you create a discussion of your own introducing yourself. So instead of replying like you just did you would click start discussion when viewing the other discussions under a forum topic.

Hope to hear from you again soon!

Hi my name is Teen. New here, so please ignore my lack of proper protocol. I too suffer from many challenges , among them depression, and FM. Please let me know how this has worked for you? My pleasure to meet you , online . :)

Hi Ashley, Thanks for the response. I have tried counseling and therapy in the past, but I have to admit, I did not keep going. Have a problem with starting things and then finishing them. I do a lot of things at once and get confused as to which one I should do, then I just don't do the ones I don't feel like. I would like to try therapy, but their is a hindrance in my life keeping me from doing it. And if I do try therapy I would have to keep it a secret. I have started the sessions and finished the first one. Already I am discovering what is causing some of my anxiety! I am starting the seven day activity log tomorrow, and will see how that goes. Thanks again. Dilove99

Hi Dilove,

Welcome to the group. I am very sorry to hear about all you had to go through in the past and the health concerns you are dealing with now.  First of all, have you had counseling or therapy around your past? Talking through difficult past memories can be helpful. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy doesn't focus on past pains; it mainly focusing on changing your thoughts and behaviour in the present. What are your thoughts on this?

If you feel CBT is a good fit for you then great! Start with session 1 and take your time working through each session. Be sure to do the homework consistently as this is the most important part of the program.  Also, post often. You are not alone in this - we will help you through it.

Have you begun the program yet? Any questions so far?

Hello everyone! I am new to this site! I decided to give this a try to help me with battling my depression. I have been battling depression and anxiety for over 12 years now. It seems like forever in my head. It all stems back from my childhood. Alcoholic mother, abusive mother and sexually abused by my older brother. Sometimes the grief becomes so great I feel like I can't breath. Depression and anxiety have set in thick to me because of these things as well as my health problems I deal with, CHF, Diabetes and now recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. These ailments alone would cause someone to be depressed. ;) feel free to message me and I look forward to meeting you all and becoming a part of this community to help myself and others on our journey to defeat depression and anxiety. We are all warriors! Xo
