Hi DC, welcome to the DC   I'm glad you found us.  Just wanted to reiterate what Ashley said and urge you to take the WB-DAT depression test.  It really is a helpful tool.  I didn't realize just how depressed I was until I took it.  It helped me get serious about addressing my "issues". Thanks for your intro... always hard to do but a great way to get started.

Welcome to the group. I'm sorry you have been feeling sad lately. We are hear to listen (read) if you want to let anything out.

Unfortunately only a doctor can diagnose if you are depressed; you can take the WB-DAT Depression test to assess yourself but again this is not to replace a doctors diagnosis. You can also check out the Educator section under Tools for more information on symptoms of depression.

Talking to people about how you are feeling is an important coping mechanism and an important part of a healthy relationship. It can be difficult to talk about emotions but sometimes just letting it out can put things in perspective and help to make you feel better. You mention you don't want to burden anyone with how you feel - I wonder if the situation was reversed and a person close to you was sad and opened up to you about it, How would it make you feel? What would it mean to you to know that they chose you to talk to about difficult feelings? I don't want to pressure you into doing anything you are uncomfortable with but I also don't want you to miss out on important social support.

No matter what you decide to do know we are always here for you.

Hi,

I`ve never posted in a forum before, but I don't know where else to turn. After doing a google search and reading that others have found this site helpful, I thought I might as well give it a try.

I'm not too sure what is wrong with me, or if there is even anything wrong with me; I just know that i'm sad... a lot. It comes and goes and I think I can attribute it to certain things but when things are low...they are REALLY low. I`m not comfortable talking about my feelings with others in my life, I don't want to burden or inconvenience anyone. My boyfriend is stressed and the last thing I want to do is cause him more stress. I'm feeling bored with work, and again I don't feel comfortable talking to anyone.

Does this sound like symptoms of someone who is depressed?

Can't wait to see what you guys think.

DC
