Thank you for the kind welcome. I'm currently taking medication and for the most part is seems to even out my moods to some degree. I've found there is a pattern to my depression where it isn't consistent through out the day. I've been practicing yoga for a couple of years. I like hot yoga as I enjoy the heat and I find it easier to meditate. I like the program so far and am in the process of finishing session 2. I read a post where you talked about the happiness advantage. I'll check it out.

I too have recently discovered this site and I have found it to be a very useful too in battling depression. To date, the nuggets that I have taken from the sessions & from watching "The Happiness Advantage" is that the behaviour must come before the motivation in depressed people and also that recording 3 things to be grateful for, one positive experience, exercise, meditation and doing one random act of kindness on a daily basis works wonders to retrain the brain. I have tried meditation and yoga for beginners in you Tube and I feel a sense if wellness that I've never really felt before. I've tried medications over the years and over the past year I find that they only work to get me out of the slumps by giving me the initial serotonin surge. I guess what I'm experiencing these past few years is more dysthymia than a clinical depression, which I did suffer back when I was 35. I am 50 now so I guess it's better late than never! Good luck on your journey and no that you are not alone...there is a tremendous support network here.
I'm new to the group. Joined a couple of weeks ago and I've finished session 1. I found it helpful to track my moods for the week as it definitely uncovered a pattern. I've struggled with depression most of my life, adolescence to the present. I'm hopping this program will help me develop some habits and skills to deal with depression more successfully.
