I am a 31-year-old stay-at-home mom/medical transcriptionist. I have a son who is 7 and a daughter who is 2. My husband and I have been together for 8 years, married for 4.
I was diagnosed with depression when I was 15 but didn't really struggle with it until after my son was born in 2007. I ended up with postpartum depression and it then turned in to major depressive disorder.
I had a suicide attempt in February this year. I was in hospital for 3 days. They urged me to stay longer but I wanted to go home.
I have been struggling for the last 7 years to find the right medication/combination of medication. Right now I am on Zoloft 200 mg and Wellbutrin 300 mg. My doctor had me see a psychiatrist the other day to get a second opinion as I didn't seem to be getting better. These doses are about to be increased to 400 mg and 450 mg.
I see my doctor pretty regularly regarding my depression, but it was actually the psychiatrist who recommend that I try CBT. Unfortunately, I live in a small town with mental health counselors, 1 psychologist, and no psychiatrists (I spoke with the psychiatrist via webcam).
So that is what brings me here. I am willing to try anything to get my MDD under control and I'm actually feeling pretty positive about CBT.
Anyways, thanks for listening.
