Thanks Everyone for your motivational words. Some time these kind of words also helps but i rarely find people with these kind of words . What i mean to say lost everything is that where ever i go whether in office or sports or parties i find myself most stupid fellow. it seems me that every one can perform better than me. But now i will do CBT and mindfulnes programme .Thanks a lot  guys for the suggestions .

Hey I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and share some techniques I have used that have really helped me with my battle with bipolar 2. First of all I just wanted to say this is an amazing website and it really does a good job at explaining how to practice and utilize CBT. Another thing besides CBT that I would suggest you to look into and do some research on is mindfulness. Basically mindfulness reprograms your mind to separate you from your thoughts and helps you realize that just because you think something doesn't mean you have to react to that thing. It is pretty hard to practice at first, but with practice I have found it to be significantly more effective than medication. CBT and mindfulness also really compliment each other, so you can apply what you learn in CBT to your mindfulness practice and visa versa. I hope this helped you out a little bit and if you have any questions about mindfulness or CBT don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome sudeepkumar,

It is hard to believe but research proves that CBT is effective even without medication. In fact, CBT has the most evidence base out of any type of therapy, including medication. It takes time and systematic effort but it can help to alleviate depression. CBT actually can change the structure of our brains. It sounds like your depression might be situational so it is important to understand that sometimes it is healthy for us to feel sad and down. CBT cannot stop suffering or grief but it can help to control it. It cannot make someone have a better life but it can help you get to where you want to be emotionally so that you are able to take the actions needed to improve your life.

All that being said it might also be important for you to look into other ways to heal. Turning to friends for help, exercise, mindfulness, healthy eating and sleep habits can all help with controlling depression. I am not sure what you mean when you say you lost everything but I can assume perhaps you have some grieving to do. Check out the session on grief and loss and perhaps think about ways to allow yourself to work through the grieving process. Remember CBT cannot shut off feelings it can only help you to think in the most healthy way possible. Sometimes healthy means feeling sad.  What are your thoughts on all this?

Welcome to the group! I just joined this website yesterday but I already feel better starting my cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT, because I'm lazy...).

From what I see, it focuses on getting you to change what you do, which will then help you to feel better about yourself. The problem with at least my depression is that it causes me to think I'm a loser, and not want to do anything, and then when I do nothing I feel more like a loser because I didn't do anything...and so on!  CBT seems to try and help you break that spiral and get you doing the things you want to do.

I'm sorry to hear you lost everything you wanted in life. *HUG*

There's a silver lining though, the fact that you still want things in life is a great start - at my worst, I didn't actually want anything because I hated everything. So I really hope CBT helps you *get* those things you want, or something like them, back again.
