bambi- if there's one thing about the patch that really helped me, it's knowing that smoking while wearing the patch could be very dangerous, if not potentially fatal. It does help with the craves, but it really is one or the other as far as smoking or the patch. A good incentive for me!
But if you can cold turkey it, you technically get over this addiction sooner ( a lot sooner). I'm in awe of those who do this.
Either way- please do it. My lungs feel so much better now, my voice improved, I and my house don't stink. Yes, I have my days, but I'm only 3 weeks into this. I smoked for 30 years. You won't see any flowers or smiley faces on my replies because quite honestly, it's really hard and I'm not really nice right now, but you sure have my respect, as does everyone on this site. What a strange trip it is!
