Thanks Nan. I have followed all of the advice you have mentioned, and things are going great for me. How strong-willed you must be to quit after 60 years! Good for you.redrosie

Hi Nan, don't cry...celebrate the fact that you have succeeded in stopping smoking. We cannot look back, so look forward to a life much better than if you had continued to smoke.
Duffis, I know that I perhaps take the micky out of you sometimes but it is in an affectionate manner and not meant to offend. It touched me when you mentioned Roxanne and her struggle for breath.
You are about the same age as my parents (from what I can gather) so I can relate.
Luv Brent

Hang tough Nan and take one day at a time. I always hope I didn't wait too long to quit. Smoked for 40 years. Time will tell.

Nan..
You are an inspiration to all of us. Your story is touching so many lives. My heart goes out to you for the bad news you have received. Just last week I was struggling with listening to my father breathe and cough. The stories of people like you and Duffis remind me that there is always hope for all of us.
Thank you for sharing with us. You are in my prayers.
Cheryl, my friend, you have a heart of gold and I'm so glad to be sharing this journey with you.

Nan,
I wish that I could send to you a real bouquet of flowers that could be a part of your life for the next week to ten days. Although the news isn't all good, we both know that there are so many worse things that could be. So now we learn how to deal with what is there, and go on with the future we want to have. I am going to the store now and buy two carnations. One for me and one for you. I will look at them daily for the next week and remind myself that we are some of the lucky ones. And thank God for the help and love he sent to help us quit smoking. And for the strength he gives us to keep going.
Cheryl
