Why did food taste a lot better 9 days ago b4 I quit smoking, except Chocolate. Even Pepsi is yucky now... :confuse: Second question is about dizzyness. I quit the Nic gum on Saturday. Still today (being Wednesday), I still get spells. Or is it not the nicotene in my system or the lack of it, more of my mind messing with me. Thanks, Ron :| My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 328 Amount Saved: $60.75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 10 Mins: 53 Seconds: 14

Thanks everyone for the posts! Even though food tastes worse now than b-4 I quit, I guess it's better than smoking. And if my taste buds never recover, I guess I can just live off Chocolate, Oranges, and Sweets. :) ;) :) (Problem is I'll be as big as the house) lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 335 Amount Saved: $60.75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 11 Mins: 44 Seconds: 18

Good morning Ronko, I am in the same boat as you. It's not that food didn't taste better, but my taste buds sure did change. I didn't enjoy things anymore, and found a new like in some other food. Some chololate does taste different now to me, but not bad, just different. As far as the dizzy spells, well I still get them. Mostly at night though. I believe it is still the detox going through your system. Mostly the O2 your brain was so deprived of. I think its still trying to figure out that it gets oxygen all of the time now, and its wondering why....... Hang in there. It does pass. My spells are not as often anymore. Hi Ronko, Food, especially sweet food, tasted really bad to me too at that time in my quit. When I posted here about it, people suggested my sinuses as the culprit- they go through a lot of hell when we smoke and it takes them some time to recover. Sure enough, after a few days everything stopped tasting awful. Dizziness- I get it too still, but less often. Congrats on your 9 days! Ron... my tastes changed too. Nothing really tasted better, just different and some things I liked before just weren't as good any more. Dizzy...oh my. For the first 2 months of my quit I was dizzy. They say something about oxygen getting to your brain. I really don't know but it does pass. Very few people have posted about being dizzy so I'm not sure what the cause is. Just know that I experienced it too for a long time. You are doing great! Hang in there. Ron I have to kind of agree with you. Food does not taste better to me now. I dont taste a difference in my food at all. Tastes the same to me. ;) As far as the dizzyness someone else would be able to help you better if they havent helped already. I have never used the gum so I dont know. When I tried to quit years ago I quit drinking coffee and switched to tea. Now this time I quit drinking tea and havent picked up anything else. My taste buds certainly changed for that. Chocolate taste buds never change though :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 336 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,407 Amount Saved: $2520 Life Gained: Days: 43 Hrs: 23 Mins: 33 Seconds: 38

Hi Ron, food didn't taste bad to me...but I noticed that my tastes changed rather abruptly. I was an avid coke drinker, and suddenly I just didn't want it anymore. I wanted spice tea, rather than coffee. I wanted fruits, especially raisins. It was very odd to me at the time. Of course, I never lost my taste for chocolate!
