Ang,
You want to hear about bad experiences and staying quit? Well, within a month of quitting, I lost my job, dislocated my shoulder, was assaulted by my best friend and roommate at the time, moved 200 miles away and had ZERO friends here and in the process of moving, lost nearly all of my friends in my old town too, started school all over again and totally began a new life... alone. Yes, I've had 3 slips since quitting in June, but for the most part, I've managed to stay smoke free despite all of that. I don't really have any advice for how to stay quit through bad experiences because if I didn't exactly do it the right way, but I think Luna's idea with the journal is a great one. Also, I say make a plan now for what you will do when a tough situation hits... it's like an emergency action plan. You don't make a plan when you're in an emergency, you have a plan for when one happens... and considering that you pretty much know that you're gonna need this plan, just be very specific. For instance, you will walk away and pull out your reasons for quitting and read them 10 times... by the time you read your list 10 times, the craving should have passed. Or, you will leave the situation and just take deep breaths until you feel better... whatever you think will work for you... just devise a plan now and tell yourself no matter what, you WILL stay quit! You can do this!
Crave the Quit!
