The Cigar Triggered........

What can I say, Mike? I'm sorry, but I'm gald you're back and also am glad you had the honesty to start over with your quit. It's discouraging to see someone so far into it go back because all of us who are in the earlier stages want to hear that no one even thinks about it after a certain amount of time. But it's the reality of this addiction. I envy you though in that you actually came back. I think I would be smoking 2ppd for a couple of years if I had made that slip. Glad you could do it and welcome back! [font=Comic Sans MS] Wow.. didn't know that could happen. Perhaps the cigarette size thing did it.. I have friends who don't smoke cigarettes and smoke an occasional dobie and they are not addicted. I don't get it .. Thank god that I have never been able to stomach pipes or cigars.. I literally run before I have to puke. Back in the day, I had a professor think it was okay to smoke a pipe in the room during a final exam. As he walked around.. I got sicker and sicker.. I finally stood up for myself and asked him to please stop.. then I had to go to restroom to throw up before continuing.. Took me hours to recover.. (smoked the whole time)..weird I know.. but true. Glad you are back on the wagon.. hard lesson there.. sorry. Thanks for the warning to us all. Glad you're back on the wagon. It was 8 months and I was strong, feeling so good, healthy and happy. 8 months was the longest period since I was 16 years old (32 years ago) that I had gone without nicotine in my body. I know I am an addict, but I went through the Holiday season parties without any desire for a cigarette and I felt so confident. One night last month, I decided that a glass of scotch and a cigar would be a wonderful match especially since I felt as if I was over the need for Nic. I puffed down a big ole cigar and popped a couple of glassed of fine scotch. I felt fine and didnt have the need to smoke. However, three days later, I told myself that I really enjoyed the cigar so I smoked another. A couple of days later another then I bought a cigarette-sized cigar and that was it. I have been fighting cigarettes ever since. I reinforced the fact that I was not just addicted to cigarettes; I am addicted to the Nic. This is the keen sense of the obvious, but do not let yourself get tricked seeing other supposed ex-smokers puffing a cigar and think that I can safely do so as well. The journey is again a tough one but it is a journey so worthwhile. I will now be a ZERO days meter man, my friends.
