bambi, Each smoker has different withdrawal symptoms - yours will be unique. Although they may be unpleasant, they do pass. When you experience withdrawal symptoms, remind yourself that each symptom is a sign of recovery - your body is in the process of healing itself. Think of withdrawal symptoms as growing pains. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. It�s possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Hi Bambi, Im in my 3rd day of my quit. I too am finding that I am clenching my teeth. I sometimes do that when Im feeling stressed. It could be the same for you. Anyway, What I do Is I try an do a big yawn when i feel myself clenching. Breathing deep and yawning again. Also, you may want to treat yourself to a nice massage with the money you've saved from your quit. Continue the good fight. I am on day 12 of my quit and am very proud of this achievement,i really diddnt think i would get this far but am soooooooo glad i have. i am taking each day as it comes and things have not been too bad, ive been on step 2 of the patch for 4 days now i have noticed things getting a little harder but on the whole nothing i cant handle. The main problem for me seems to be i cant stop clenching my teeth, my jaws aching something rotten and its giving me constant headaches. Thanks for the advice GrooveKitty, I cant chew gum, HATE the stuff, but i will go and see someone about it if i cant stop doing it. Perhaps there is a forum for people trying to give up teeth clenching. hi Bambi.... I too am a clencher (of teeth, that is) and my dentist sent me to an orthopedic surgeon last year.....some really BAD things happen when you clench and smoke, apparantly. At any rate, she made a mouthguard for me to wear at night, or thru the day if/when I don't talk (ya right) What I do thru the day is chew gum - it forces you to keep your jaws moving, so you clench less. The headaches are all a part of it too. If you can, go in to see your dentist or doctor about it. Perhaps they can suggest something to help if this is just a symptom of withdrawal versus something you have been noticing for a while. Bambi, I am in a world of hurt from the teeth clenching. Please go see a dentist! You don't need TMJ syndrome with your jaws painful and your neck in constant spasm, not to mention the tension and migraine headaches. Yes, this can all be caused by clenching! Don't chew gum either! Keep that great quit going!
