Worried about my job

for 18 år siden 0 481 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
OK, I know I am not the only one having this trouble and need some suggetions. I have such a hard time thinking about anything else but smoking that I can't really do my job. It's been too long now and I need to get back to business. I tryed to handle a couple of things at work today. My job is very very detail oriented and I couldn't really get through even one task all the way. My mind will not focus on the task at hand long enough to finish. I am getting more and more behind and I don't see an end in sight because I still am not sleeping and craving really bad since the incident with my Mom (she smoked in my car, but that's a whole nother post). It's almost like I smoked that cigarette myself (maybe I did second hand, a car is a very confined space) I feel like there is nicotine in me again. So this has been a 24 hour crave really, and I can't think strait anymore. Tomorrow, I really need to get back on the stick at work or I will be in trouble. Has anybody fought this and won? What is everyone else doing during those first 3 weeks? HealerWithin recommended Melatonin for sleeping. I bought 3mg/30 tablet with quick release system ... they work great and do not give am a medicine hangover the next morning. I agree with Lady about talking to your Boss if you are concerned about your job. Open, honest communication is the key to so much in life I think. You asked what other did during their first 3 weeks. I read and posted on here a lot, I still do ... it is a source of what to expect and I like that. I chewed a lot of gum ... now I don't hardly chew any. I did a lot of inspirational reading. I am a positive person, but when I am down ... just like everyone else ... we think negative ... so when I was down ... motivational reading here I come. I took a lot of showers. I went to the gym. I went to bed early. I stayed away from social situations and from smoking. Anything that made me want to smoke ... I left. I have a month now. I feel like I have been a non-smoker for much more time than that already. Now I have other issues to deal with ... non-smoker issues ... it is a beautiful thing. Mamma - You have gotten some good advice here... Try the melatonin - it really is great and its all natural. I have not experienced a drug hang-over since it's not a drug, try it if you need some good, deep sleep. Also- watch what you eat right now and drink lots and lots (and lots!) of water. Put protein in your body. Eat fresh fruit... Right now you body, mind and soul need all the nuturing and care you can muster. Also, there are natural herbs that may support focus, google it... I don't want to mention one or the other as there are individual needs to consider for each of us. But there are some herbs (over the counter at Target, Walgreens, etc. that may help you, so make sure to explore it... Also- walking helped me alot. I would take the time to go to the mall - and for a myriad of reasons it just helped me focus when I needed to do, so see if walking will support you. Walking at the beginning of my Quit really helped clear my mind. Be patient with yourself, dear one. This is tough stuff, don't panic, talk to the person in charge if that's appropriate, and explain... Mama, I sympathise as I too did not get too much done when I first quit. Try taking regular breaks so you do not have to concentrate for so long, you probably took regular breaks to smoke anyway so the time lost is maybe no more than before. It does get easier I can assure you so don't despair and as Lady has said it may be worth speaking to youer boss if that is possible. Mama, what you have been told is pretty much right on. The only other thing I can add would be to talk to your Mom. She is still a a smoker and as much as you have to deal with that, she needs to respect your quit. Smoking in your car or other personal spaces cannot be allowed. Your Mom will not like it at first but she may just follow your lead. I am sending lots of prayers your way. Mama... The first few weeks of my quit I wasn't much good at the office either. When it starts getting overwhelming, try going to the restroom to get away and just breathing, scream if you need to while you are in there (provided no one can hear you). Just walking seems to calm down the frustration associated with not being able to concentrate. It sounds like you need a good nights sleep. I took Tylenol PM early in my quit to help with the headaches and sleeping. I wouldn't recommend doing this long term but a few nights won't hurt. You would be suprised what a good nights sleep will do for you. I also had a nice talk with my boss when I quit and let him know when I was having a bad day. He was very patient with me and that helped a lot as well. I don't know what kind of relationship you have but this may be an option for you too. Hope this helps some. No matter what, don't smoke!
