Stop beating yourself up. Its going to be ok... If you found that none of the coping mechanisims you put in place did not work, take a look at the situation for what it really is, was there another challenge that was thrown in there for you to cope with, one that caught you by suprise? What were you thinking the very moment you went and bought that pack? when you lit that sickarette? what were you thinking? how did that first drag make you feel - nasty i bet. Just hang in there timetodoit. Beleive in yourself once again, beleive that you have the power to do this. Want the quit more than you want that next sickarette. PrincessC :) x

Timetodoit if you feel like crying let it rip. Don't beat yourself up, just get right back on the wagon, what you spend on patches will only be for a couple of months, if you smoke, costs a lot more health wise and money wise. None of my coping mechanisms worked. I worked out, meditated, talked on the phone, rewarded myself with wings. Nothing. I still went back to the nasty cancer sticks. I have a test in 3 days and I'm overloaded as always, but that's no excuse. I told myself yesterday that if I could smoke a pack that I would stay up all night and work. Of course, the nicotine made me feel lazy and apathetic, so I didn't get much accomplished. I woke up reeking of smoke and I had to take 2 showers to get the stench off me. So then I spent the rest of the day feeling guilty that I caved. I hate this. This is my 2nd slip. Now I might have to spend another $40 to buy the patch(and I'm literally hundreds of dollars over my budget for the year) and go thru withdrawals again. I hate smoking. I hate cigarettes. Why do I keep going back?!?! ARGH! I'll be posting here a *lot* the next few days. Brace yourself guys :8o: I went for a drive a few minutes ago, and crushed the remaining cigs one by one and threw them out my window(bad for the environment but hopefully good for my lungs) I'm so frustrated right now I could cry. !!!!!!!! Hi y'all Thanks so much for your replies :) With this test breathing down my neck, I won't have a lot of time to look up coping mechanisms for a few days. The silver lining here is that I've been so busy studying I haven't had a chance to smoke in the past 12 hours lol. Thanks for letting me vent :). OK I gotta get back to studying. Peace! TTDI... the reason you keep smoking is because you are an addict. We are all nicotine addicts here. Breaking the addiction takes a lot of courage and determination. You say you hate cigarettes, you hate the smell... get mad at the addiction and refuse to let it control you any longer. After you smoked, you didn't feel any better. The reason is because smoking doesn't do a thing for you except feed the addiction. As soon as you put the cigarette out you are longing for the next one. When I quit, I kept reminding myself that each moment I made it through was one moment closer to never feeling this way again. Take one step at a time and one crave at a time.
