Pile-o-troubles

for 18 år siden 0 23 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Congratulations in advance on your 1 year anniversary. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter, but you prove my point. When I things are bad, and that crap is piling up around me, I get brought out of my own head, and misery by hearing other peoples experiences. I know that things won't always be smooth, but I have the tools to cope with the stressful times, if I choose to use them.

When I look back at the times when I caved to smoking, I always had an exuse, not a reason, for picking up. I was stressed, I was anxious, I was going to take back my will, I was doing well and was going to reward myself..., but I know there was one reason, I'm addicted, period. If I continued to smoke every time I got stressed, or every time things didn't go my way, I would never quit. Everyone has troubles, and if a group of people threw all there troubles on the table, and you were required to take some troubles with you when you left the room, chances are, you'd want to leave with your own troubles. Today, there is NOTHING that is going to make me smoke, and there is NO ONE that is going to make me smoke. If I feel stressed, and I smoke, I'm still going to be stressed, but now I'd be a stressed smoker. It has to be that simple for me, one day at a time, because to smoke is just going to bring on piles-o-troubles for me. Great insight. Thanks for posting. Stress: A mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression. Smoking: A nicotine addicts response to stress. We MUST find other alternatives to dealing with the stress in our lives. Rusty wrote a post about ways to stay calm some time ago. Several ideas mentioned were long walks, relaxation tapes, a hot bath or shower, reading, and listening to relaxing music. Not cravin', never cavin'. What amazing words of wisdom to start off the day! It is so true that we had problems when we smoked...why do we sometimes think that we didn't? It's that drug that fogs the air and fogs our minds. How wonderful to be free of that bump in the road! Good point. I know I have learned this so far. Even if we do not smoke there will be problems. Life has enough bumps in the road even if we do all the right stuff. So we need to eliminate as many bumps in the road as we can. Smoking is one of the biggest ones and you cannot hire a crew to remove it for you. No matter how much $$$ you have you have to do it yourself. So congratulations on getting that one underway. Loss of a loved one, an unforseen accident, these are a couple of the bumps that we do not have control over and we will all hit them at one time or another so getting a smoother ride is really important. Stay on your new choosen pathway and good luck. My ride is a lot smoother now. I will have left those ugly things many miles back on the road. Aug, 25th will be one year without them. That is also the date I lost my daughter. I know what i'm talking about here.
