Hi
Well the biggest testament to Zyban, has to be my father, All through my life he smoked. I reckon he must have smoked 40 a day, probably for 40+ years...
He has been quit free for around 5 years now. I cant believe it, he tried everything, including hypnotherapy, nothing worked long term but Zyban did.
My brother quit on it a year ago, this was his first quit.
Anyway everyone is different. I am on Zyban, does it work? Yes definately. I think you do still have to want to quit smoking.Dont expect a magic cure - you still have work to do. but I wake up in the morning and dont want to smoke. Its ok, and I really think that this time I will stay nicotine free and not turn back to smoking.
It makes you not think about it. Even before your quit date you will probably want to quit, as they make you not want to smoke.
Everyone is different and effects are different on everyone. In Uk, you will need to be authorised by your doctor, and have a prescription, I know that at first my brother could not get this on prescription.I did get side affects at first, but that is my body getting used to the drug. You can take it for a period of up to 7 weeks, but they make you go back to the doctors and often only supply 2 weeks at a time, so you have to attend follow up checks to get prescription to see how it is going.
Actually reading your post again, you cant be in UK.. as you cant buy it in pharmacies it has to be prescribed. We get it free on NHS.
But dont pay the money and expect it to be a miracle pill, you still have to work for it and want it.
