KIM..check my last post under 'triggers' on the 8th of August. Have you tried the little pillows of scents under your pillow or soothing lavender bath. Check the post and see if this can help you relax in any way. Lets hope for the best, and ((((HUGS))) to you. LUV, SUZY.

sOMETIMES I find tht if I go into the garden and pick soom lavender and make a small pillow of it to slip under my pillow while sleeping or resting, It it very soothing and relaxing. It is a very soothing pland to use for relaxaation, and one of my grandkids use that now, and has made a difference. It may not be a very bid diffence, but helps. You can add a litle mint and cammomile to the cloth bag for under your pillow and its amazing how it can help you relax. Just a thought in case you want to try it. If you don't havea garden, walk around the neigbourhood and someone will have it. Or buy some small plants or go to a health store and you can get the dried ones, and then start alittle garden, een in a post in your home so you can have it fresh. Also some feverfew added helps. Or try a lavender bath; is very relaxing. Anything that has a scent that is soothing to you. Try it..you'll like it. I have some Tiger Balm which I put on a face cloth and sniff on that at night and I'm not conjested with breathing on waking up. Just some thoughts that have worked for me (helps with the allergies I get from 2 huge dogwood trees outside my bedroom window). Maybe it will help thers relax, too.LUV, SUZY. LUV, SUZY.

Yes Anne, the fear of a panic attack is enough to make me pass out - IF I LET IT. The first time you are swept over like a tidal wave.. and you analyze .. how did it happen what caused it etc... you are facing the feeling of immediate death... it is so aweful, and you can't necessarily figure it out... The frustration of not figuring out the cause ALONE can cause an attack. Not understanding or-the "belief" that you are out of control, the unpredictability etc... You can work yourself up into hyperventilation/illness.. any number of things.. but the fear of duplicate experience can be enough for someone who does not understand the problem. So, I guess my answer would be "I have no idea"..but I try.... (smile)

As pointed out to me in an email, (thanks, Sender) here's what The Panic Center's Panic Glossary says about Hyperventilation: chronic excessive breathing that results in changes in carbon dioxide, lactic acid, and oxygen levels in the blood. Associated with intense anxiety. Can produce panic attacks. In this last sentence, hyperventilation acts as a trigger. Does anyone have any insight as to the cause of their hyperventilation? -- Anne-Marie, Site Administrator

I definitely think that random things can trigger panic. Actually, it happens to me all the time. Any kind of sudden change can send me into a panic! I really hate this part, b/c its what makes panic attacks so unpredictable, and leaves me feeling that i'll never be able to control them. I have spend so much time trying to figure out what causes my panic attacks, i would find it much more encouraging if it was something specific, rather that pretty much ANYTHING at all!

I'm not sure that panic necessarily requires a trigger? Or maybe that is bad information... sometimes triggers are so "MINIMAL or TRIVIAL".. .like it could be ANYTHING>.. My nose itches OH MY GOD! NOW I CANT BREATHE... etc... This is just my experience.. that triggers can be so minute, sometimes they are unidentifiable, and then you feel like you are making something up just to point a finger at anything... just to keep your sanity(smile) Paxil was the first anti depressant,, that I didnt have side effects with... until I went off it... I would recommend it to anyone -however I would also say... that I tried about 8 or 9 different ones over the years that i couldnt tolerate.. paxil was the first I could tolerate.. but now I am on prozac... so go figure. Wish I had a better answer.. but its got great potential (in my mind) to help you out.

Hi Guys, Are these common triggers in Panic Attacks? Body changes, e.g going from a cold temperature into the heat? Heartburn? Headache? meaning, anything changing in your body? I simply "PANIC" when I am feeeling anything out of the "NORM" Bright lights, loud noises, chaos, strong smells? Can anyone help? Also,....I have read remarks about Paxil, and most are negative. Are there any positive things about Paxil? Is there a "Choice""Specifically better suited for Panic Attacks"-that would have the least side-effects? Thanks so much Janice
