Zany, I'm sorry that you are hurting right now. I remember your struggles from last year with the ex and I'm so proud of you for quitting again, despite your problems. You might not be proud of you, but I am! I agree with you that quitting again can be difficult at times, but I know that you can do this! I know that you have it in you, deep, deep down! Find that strength! DOn't ever give up! You're a winner! Congrats on 1 month! Crave the Quit!
I thought about the book on self esteem that could be a reward. I'll search this afternoon for one. Any good titles out there?
Here's one that might help: Why Do I Think I'm Nothing Without a Man by Penelope Russianoff. It's out of print now, but you can find a used copy on Amazon.com or eBay fairly easily and reasonably. The same author has a new title out that's also worth reading: When Am I Going to Be Happy?: How to Break the Emotional Bad Habits That Make You Miserable Again, it's available in paperback through Amazon. Hope these might be of help, Zany. I know it's hard, but I second what the others have said -- you need to move on. This guy is not the right one for you. I think you need to get to the bottom on why you are so addicted to someone who clearly has some serious issues and whom you have allowed to run your life. As much as you'd like to hope otherwise -- you u]cannot change another person's basic nature and personality, but you can change your own behavior and reactions. You deserve better, Zany, and so does your son. You can do this, Zany... Just give yourself the credit you deserve. All the best, Livadia My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 64 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,298 Amount Saved: $320 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 13 Mins: 45 Seconds: 28
Tell the ex to take a hike and move on with your life. You deserve better.
Having been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and even wore the damn thing... :gasp: I second that emotion! Zany, if there's one thing I learned the hard way, it's never, ever settle for second-best. Your ex- already made it clear who it is that comes first in his life. Time for you to recognize and show him that he is the real loser by moving on and no longer looking back. To truly let go you need to let go with love. Only then will it go. To truly let go and for something new to come into your life. You have to want to let go. Then you need to know what you want out of your life - and focus on it. THen it will come to you. It cant come to you, if you dont know what you want, if you are unsure, or confused. Then your life might feel confused. I respect you so much for continuing your quit, whilst you are going through this. I know it can be tough, especially if the cigarette was your best friend for a long time. I know it can feel lonely without it. Have you written a goodbye letter to your cigarettes? Have you let go? Have you written down what you want. Honestly what you want. It will come to you - you just have to know what you want. As for the man in and out - well from my experience, you will let go when you are ready. YOu and only you will know when the time is right. Lady is right you are at 30 days - I can remember how horrible that was - as it wasnt that long ago. Focus on what you want - it will come to you. Zany, Thanks for checking in. We're very happy you've kept your quit and are growing on personal level. Perhaps another reward could be something you & your son could do together or a night out with the girls in a new outfit. The possibilities are endless. Keep up the great progress!
